WND Reporting: MexiCain Funded By Soros Since 2001

Seems for all of his attempts to pander to Conservatives at CPAC this past weekend, Juan MexiCain has been working for the other side since 2001 according to a newly released article on World Net Daily.

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros’ Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry’s Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

Isn’t this bordering on sleeping with the enemy?

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light.

Uh Oh Juan! What did you do?

McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision’s push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

Instead of focusing on influence peddling which would have prevented situations like this, MexiCain decided to team up with one of the Senate’s most liberal members to co-author a bill that became law which curtailed the type of advertising permitted within 30 days of an election. McCain-Feingold put limits on soft-money contributions and silenced free speech but left open the possibility for MexiCain to peddle his influence. Naughty naughty Juan.

Yet, the Reform Institute still employs the McCain campaign’s Hispanic outreach director, Juan Hernandez, as a senior fellow of its Comprehensive Immigration Reform Initiative.

As WND reported, Hernandez serves as a non-paid volunteer for the McCain campaign. A dual Mexican-U.S. citizen, he was a member of former President Vicente Fox’s cabinet, representing an estimate 24 million Mexicans living abroad. Hernandez, with a “Mexico first” message, has argued aggressively against building a fence on the Mexican border, insisting the frontier needed to remain wide open so illegal immigrants could easily enter the U.S.

This being the case, are we now to believe that MexiCain “learned his lesson” when it comes to amnesty programs? I think not. Soros et al want open borders and as long as Hernandez receives money from Soros and Kerry I see no way he can not push forward another open borders amnesty plan if he were to become President of the United States.

Soros, Kerry, and all the rest of the ultra left want high taxes, redistribution of wealth, open borders, massive social spending programs, and a more socialist model in our government. If MexiCain and his aids are receiving money from these people, how are we supposed to believe that he wants to be more Conservative. It’s not happening Juan.

I’ve said this before and you’ll keep reading it until his ambitions to be President are quashed for good, the next President is going to be doomed to a single 4 year term. That’s it.

Economic conditions in this country are destined to plummet without a true Conservative candidate in the General Election. A faux Conservative will tank the economy. Either liberal will tank the economy. And we will see a return of economic conditions reminiscent to those which existed during the Carter Infestation. Do we want the next President to be a Republican if this happens? I for one don’t.

Think of it, Mexicans flowing over the border like water over Niagara Falls and unemployment in double digits. I see Soviet Union style economic depression on the horizon.

Our Unique, Independent Voice

The health of a free society can be measured by the willingness of ordinary people to take an active role in the nation’s democratic institutions and the extent by which elected officials conduct the government’s business with transparency and accountability. What began as a campaign finance reform organization has grown into a multi-issue think tank that champions the national interest by formulating and advocating meaningful reform in vital areas of public policy, including campaign finance and election reform, energy and climate stewardship, homeland security, immigration reform and economic policy.

The Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization dedicated to advancing a solutions-based reform agenda. The Institute recognizes that resolving the most intractable problems confronting our society will require fundamental reform to the core of our democratic system. Such an agenda includes promoting open and fair elections, reducing the influence of special interests in our politics, and encouraging a political discourse that rises above blatant partisanship.

The Reform Institute was founded in 2001 in direct response to the millions of Americans who, during the 2000 presidential campaign, expressed profound disillusionment with corrupt fundraising activities and the political “closed shop.” The initial bipartisan Honorary Chairs of the Advisory Committee were Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and former Senator Bob Kerrey (D-NE). After Senator McCain resigned his position in 2005, former Congressman and former Fortune 500 CEO Amo Houghton of New York served as President.

The Institute represents a unique, independent voice in the constellation of nonprofit organizations. As a nonpartisan public policy group, the Institute conducts objective research and analysis on critical issues and promotes a reform agenda that restores Americans’ faith in government and the political process. The Institute brings together a broad base of reformers from all ideological spectrums, including business leaders, policy experts, as well as retired and current elected officials and, most importantly, average Americans who are tired of politics as usual.

Leadership

The Institute’s distinctive network is reflected in the members of our Advisory Committee, a bipartisan group of notable academics, legal experts, election administrators and public officials. The Advisory Committee includes Charles Kolb (Committee for Economic Development), Cheryl Perrin (Campaign for America), Norm Ornstein (American Enterprise Institute), Tom Mann (Brookings Institution), Tami Buhr (Harvard University), U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), David Pottruck (former CEO, Charles Schwab) and former U.S. Senators David Boren (D-OK) and Bob Kerrey (D-NE). The Reform Institute is led by Charles Bass, former congressman (R-NH), Legal Advisor Daniel Ortiz of the University of Virginia’s School of Law, and Executive Director Cecilia Martinez.

The names and organizations that appear in bold are known “progressives”. Progressive being the new word that is interchangeable with liberal. Juan MexiCain has no problems accepting liberal money and working with liberals. Do Conservatives truly want this man to be the leader of our Party? Again, I DON’T.
