Dems Superdelegates or Bought Votes?

Wikipedia (yes, I know it isn’t the best of sources but it will do) defines the term “superdelegate as:

… an informal term for some of the delegates to the Democratic National Convention, the quadrennial convention of the United States Democratic Party.

Unlike most convention delegates, the superdelegates are not selected based on the party primaries and caucuses in each U.S. state. Instead, the superdelegates are seated automatically, based solely on their status as current or former elected officeholders and party officials. They are free to support any candidate for the nomination.

The Democratic Party rules do not use the term “superdelegate”. The formal designation (in Rule 9.A) is “unpledged party leader and elected official delegates”.[1] In addition to these unpledged “PLEO” delegates, the state parties choose other unpledged delegates (Rule 9.B) and pledged PLEO delegates (Rule 9.C).[1] This article discusses only the unpledged PLEO delegates.

In other words, GruppenFurher. Yes I used a Nazi term because that is what is being described. Except for Jason Rae, you do remember him don’t you, who seems to have achieved Superdelegate status because of his potential within the party, Superdelegates are “current or former elected officeholders and party officials.” Party Leaders. Sounds National Socialist to me. After all what is a Democrat anyway? A popularly elected socialist.

It seems that these current or former party office holders and party officials, have their hands in the till. That’s right, the campaigns are paying them bribe money for their votes.

Obama’s political action committee has doled out more than $694,000 to superdelegates since 2005, the study found, and of the 81 who had announced their support for Obama, 34 had received donations totaling $228,000.

Clinton’s political action committee has distributed about $195,000 to superdelegates, and only 13 of the 109 who had announced for her have received money, totaling about $95,000. SOURCE

Where did these “Superdelegates” come from? It seems that the Party doesn’t trust its voters.

After the 1968 Democratic National Convention, the Democratic Party implemented changes in its delegate selection process, based on the work of the McGovern-Fraser Commission. The purpose of the changes was to make the composition of the convention less subject to control by party leaders and more responsive to the votes cast during the campaign for the nomination.

These comprehensive changes left some Democrats believing that the role of party leaders and elected officials had been unduly diminished, weakening the Democratic ticket. In response, the superdelegate rule was instituted after the 1980 election. Its purpose was to accord a greater role to active politicians.[3]

In the 1984 election, the major contenders for the Presidential nomination were Gary Hart and Walter Mondale. Each of them won some primaries and caucuses. Hart was only slightly behind Mondale in the total number of votes cast, but Mondale won the support of almost all the superdelegates and became the nominee.[4]

The superdelegates have not always prevailed, however. In the Democratic primary phase of the 2004 election, Howard Dean acquired an early lead in delegate counts by obtaining the support of a number of superdelegates before even the first primaries were held. Nevertheless, John Kerry defeated Dean in a succession of primaries and caucuses and won the nomination. SOURCE

I personally believe that it will be the decisions of the Superdelegates which will decide who the Democrat Nominee is. With Hillary sending Chelsea to breakfast with at least one Superdelegate and both candidates spending a ton of money to garner favor from these supposed “unpledged party leaders” that are prostituting their votes to the highest bidders, democracy seems to be the loser on the Democrat side. I thought they wanted more democracy? That is something they want you to believe when the opposite is true.

Ever read George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’? The Dems are the pigs in the book. Clinton and Obama are fighting for the title of Napoleon.

You know, I really do not think that anyone cares about this, they just want to resolve themselves to being sheeple. I posted pretty much the same article, albeit mine is much less cogent, and very little traffic and commenting. Dumbfounds me.

Why would anyone choose to be a Democrat?
