Hillary or Obama? MexiCain or Either Dem? The Quandary

I’ve made it abundantly clear that I would favor a 4 year Democrat failure as President from 2009 – 2013 than Juan MexiCain because Juan boy will hand the Dems an 8 year term in a reverse Reagan Revolution. By then, Hillary will be too old for the attempt, but Obama won’t be.

The question is, which should a Conservative be hoping wins the Democrat Nomination? Which can beat Juan MexiCain? On this point, I don’t really care. One is just as bad as the other.

Some will say that Obama would be more dangerous because he is the most liberal member of Congress. To which I say, remember the last time an inexperienced, young, ultra liberal took the keys to the front door of the White House? The year was 1977. The man, Jimmy Carter. The result, Carter got lambasted in the 1980 election by none other than Ronald Wilson Reagan. Reagan followed up with a 49 state victory in the General Election in 1984 against Walter “Fritz” Mondale. I don’t want to see this in reverse.

Yes Obama is dangerous. He embraces the old ideas of the Great Society but his base is too young to remember them. I barely remember them because I wasn’t born until after their biggest champion was out of office. I’m of course speaking of Lyndon B. Johnson.

Obama would be a bigger threat after a 4 year MexiCain Infestation. Yes that is the first time I’ve ever used that term to describe a Republican’s time or potential time in the White House. Obama would walk his way into the White House in 2013 like Reagan did in 1981 and we’d have him and his socialist ways for 8 long years. The people of this nation won’t be able to separate MexiCain’s lack of Conservative credentials from his being perceived as a Republican. This is because by nature most Americans are disengaged from the political system. In this fast-food, instant gratification society, the Apathetic American Lemmings* are breeding and multiplying at a rate similar to fleas. Apathy begets more apathy. And ignorance perpetuates more ignorance. And we all will suffer for that in the long run.

We must prove now, that Juan MexiCain’s brand of Republican is not Conservative. The only way we can limit the damage created by a liberal infestation lasting more than 4 years is to head it off from the beginning. Create a lame duck session that lasts for 4 years.

The Democrats in Congress have proven successfully that they are incapable of governing. This week is the biggest and brightest example of their incompetence. Steroids probes were conducted instead of dealing with the FISA renewal. And today, at noon, Congress shut down as expected while many unresolved issues remain on the table.

A case could be made between now and November that would lead to the Republicans re-taking the majority in the House and if not the Senate, maintaining such a close minority that the Dems can’t get anything accomplished. The worse thing that would happen under the next President is a stalemate. He, or she, will be seen as incapable of getting anything done rightfully or not and be bounced from office in 2012. In 2012 we nominate a real Conservative. Someone along the lines of John Boehner. And then we take control again for a minimum of 8 years.

If however we cannot retake the House and the majority for the Democrats increases in the Senate, a Democrat President will plunge this nation into not just a deep recession, but a full blow depression that would make 1929 look mild. It almost happened under Jimmy. It probably would have if Reagan didn’t come along and save us.

Obama is going around the country spewing platitudes speaking on change and hope. Yes this sounds attractive, but what will he do? He hasn’t said a word as to what he would do.

Hillary wants to increase the size of the government and spend more of your money doing it. Over $800 billion in proposed new spending and I know that sounds ominous. But think of it this way.

Should we be able to hold a tight minority in the Senate (worse case) and take control of the House, her spending packages will go no where. If we don’t take the House but maintain a slim minority in the Senate her spending packages go no where. Why? Because of a trick the Dems taught us with President Bush’s judicial appointments. The Senate needs 60 votes to invoke cloture.

Jay Stevenson, my pal and co-blogger, is worried about what kind of judges a Dem President would leave us with. Again, thanks to Juan MexiCain the use of the filibuster is still open to use on judicial appointments. They can be blocked.

I know that sounds a bit hypocritical but no one else seems to mind when it comes to Dems doing it.

The next thing we have to consider is the SCOTUS appointments. There will likely be 2 of them in the next 4 years. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and John Paul Stevens. Ginsburg was appointed by Clinton. Stevens by Carter. Both are liberal and openly so. If a Democrat President is in a position to replace these two, it will be a trade off.

The Justice that is disrupting the natural balance is David Souter (appointed by George H. W. Bush). Juan MexiCain in spite of his election year rhetoric is most likely to appoint more Souter like judges.

Bottom line…

I don’t recommend as one caller into Rush Limbaugh’s program did today, crossing over to vote for a Dem in either the primaries or in the general. I do recommend voting your conscience. Mine is leading me to vote for Mike “the Huckster” Huckabee in the Ohio primary because he is still in a position to deny MexiCain delegates. In the general, I will be voting in the state races and to re-elect Mike Turner as my United States Representative. As for President, I’m not touching the screen for any of them.

House Minority Leader John Boehner is vocal about what the American people taught him and his Republican colleagues in the House in 2006. I think it is time we teach those who aspire to the Presidency that same lesson in the same manner.
