‘What Would Reagan Do?’: OR - The Case Against MexiCain

Throughout this primary season a re-occurring question that keeps popping up on the GOP side; “What would Reagan do?” I don’t think that he would have though that somone who opposed the Party leadership as much as Juan MexiCain has during his career would be a remote possibility fo rht nominaton. Woud he hold his nose and vote for MexiCain in the name of Party unity? I’m not so sure.

If Ronald Wilson Reagan was anything he was a man of uncompromising principle. Juan MexiCain is the embodiment of compromise.

Ronald Reagan knew the best government is a small government. Juan MexiCain sides with big government liberal Democrats at every opportunity. He even attempted to switch Parties a la Jim Jeffords and Michael Bloomburg.

Ronald Reagan knew that cutting taxes and spending allowing Americans to control their own lives was the key to economic properity. Juan MexiCain along with Joe Lieberman have introduced a bill to increase the federal tax on gasoline 50 cents per gallon. Talk about a regressive tax!

Juan also opposed the Bush Tax Cuts which have sustained this economy through this period of market driven rises in energy prices. He voted against them in 2001 and 2003, but he now says they should be made perminent. The question is why?

Juan is supporting making the tax cuts permanent so that he can appeal to economic Conservatives. My brothers and sisters, don’t be fooled by this rhetoric. His tune will change as soon as he must compromise again.

Reagan cut taxes. Reagan cut spending. And it was Reagan who brought prosperity in the 80s. It was Reagan who built our military and won the Cold War. It was Reagan along with Thatcher and John Paul II who got those walls torn down. We need a Reagan not another compromise.

I know you and I can’t stand MexiCain, but may I offer you some food for thought? This election is NOT about you and me. It is about our brothers and sisters in uniform who have been and are fighting al Qaida and the Taliban so that they cannot re-build and attack us again. The communist party wants to hand them a victory and they want to ‘talk’ to Iran. Huh? Is this what you want? This is what WE will be stuck with if you do not vote. I can’t stand him either, but for the guys who’ve fought and died for me, I am going to vote. We got stuck with this loser, but they seem to like him. At least as far as support for them goes. I’m not going to second guess them. God bless you. ;)

That is the argument that the pro-MexiCain camp wants you to believe. I think that if Hillary can beat Obama, she’ll look at the realities of the situation and there will be no rapid withdrawl. It wouldn’t be the first time that a Clinton has gone back on a campaign promise.

Question: What are we willing to sacrifice in the name of supporting our troops? Our economy? Our sovereignty? A Clinton Presidency is just the catalyst that has the potential to unite the GOP and Conservatives (they aren’t always the same) around taking back the House and the Senate. Without the majority, she would be impotent.

My thought is that we let her have the White House and take back the Congress. She needs Congress to raise taxes. She needs Congress to raise spending. She needs the Senate to get her appointments confirmed. She needs the Senate to get her JUDICIAL appointments confirmed. I don’t think she dare go too far if we have the House and at least 40 united seats in the Senate.
