Huckster for RNC Chair? So Says Blackwell

Former Ohio Secretary of State, gubernatorial candidate, and current Chairman of the Coalition for a Conservative Majority Ken Blackwell (R OH) is suggesting that if Sen. John McCain does not select Mike “The Huckster” Huckabee to become his running mate in his quest to become President of the United States, than serious consideration should be paid to naming the former Arkansas Governor the next Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

From Townhall.com:

Some people are talking up the idea of Mr. Huckabee being Mr. McCain’s running mate. Should that not happen, the RNC chairmanship would be a perfect post for the young, energetic and charismatic governor from Arkansas.

About 30% of the GOP base is evangelical. Part of Mr. McCain’s crossover appeal is that he is not one, nor does he pretend to be. But having one as GOP chairman would energize them all the way to November, which is what Senator McCain needs.

Mr. Huckabee has proven himself a GOP asset. He was elected multiple times as governor in a Democrat-dominated state. Most Arkansas voters are Democrat, both U.S. senators are Democrats, his predecessor and successor were Democrats, and he had a Democrat legislature.

Yet despite that, he kept getting reelected. He even received 40% of the African-American vote, which is an extraordinary for a Republican.

Blackwell also suggests that Huckster knows how to appeal to Reagan Democrats, to which I cannot disagree. It is traditional evangelical democrats which are defined in this group. The Zell Miller Democrat as some of us refer to them.

Often times these are “Blue Dog” union members who attend a church every Sunday and not the typical Barack Hussein Obama or Hillary Clinton constituent. These “Blue Dog”/Reagan Democrats are the ones who could push John McCain over the top come November 4th. Let us hope anyway.

These people are being disenfranchised by all the talk of firsts within their party. We can also hope that once they vote for a Republican, they will continue their enlightenment towards rational thought and logic and abandon the remaining class warfare driven political leanings and vote Republican for the remainder of their days. But that will depend largely upon McCain winning and succeeding as our next President of the United States.

Bottom Line:

Is Mike “The Huckster” Huckabee ready to Chair the national party? I think that he is. Anyway he couldn’t do any worse than Chairman Howard “YeeeHawwww” Dean as Chairman of the DNC. So yeah, I’d say he’s ready.

If you really think Huckabee would be a good choice for party chair you ought to consider dropping your use of Huckster in reference to him. You started using that early on because you detested him as a presidential candidate. It was derisive then and it is derisive now.

Of course, if this was just parody anyway, don’t worry about it

No Ron, I use it because I think he’s a flim-flam man. He is The Huckster. Out for The Fair Tax now, but raised taxes 47% in Arkansas. Claims economic Conservatism but raised spending 62% in Arkansas. He claims for education but Arkansas schools are 43rd out of 50. Flim-Flam man = Huckster. I detested him as a Presidential candidate and I would only support him as RNC Chair so that we can get rid of him like the Dems got rid of Dean.
