Murder Suspect Captured in Mexico

CAPTURED

The FBI says it has in custody Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, who is charged with the murder of fellow Marine at Camp Lejeune, NC.

Breaking via FoxNews.com

The FBI says it has taken a North Carolina-based Marine wanted in the brutal murder of a pregnant colleague into custody.

The FBI office in Charlotte said Thursday night that special agents and Mexican authorities have arrested Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, who is charged with murder in the slaying of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach.

The FBI said Laurean is still in Mexico and is awaiting extradition back to the U.S.

The Marines first began searching for Lauterbach on Dec. 17, after Lauterbach failed to show up for work. Local authorities took up the case Dec. 19, after her mother reported her missing. Three weeks later, officials found Lauterbach’s burned remains in a fire pit in Laurean’s back yard.

Lauterbach had earlier accused Laurean of rape. Laurean left a note for his wife, Christina, that said Lauterbach slit her own throat with a knife, and he then buried her in the woods near their home.

An autopsy found that Lauterbach died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Suspended Error Amerika’s Randi Rhodes Quits

Suspended Error Amerika Queen of Hate Randi Rhodes has resigned her position from the trouble liberal talk radio network.

From FoxNews.com:

Randi Rhodes, the radio talk show host who was suspended last week from Air America after going on an obscenity-laced tirade against Hillary Clinton and one of her prominent supporters, has resigned.

Mark Green, president of Air America Media, told FOXNews.com that Rhodes terminated her contract Wednesday after she refused to apologize on air for her remarks.

“We sought an apology, because of what she had said … Like Imus, like David Shuster,” Green said. “She refused and instead last night informed us she was terminating her contract with Air America, which she has the option to do.”

He said she was not forced out — “She exercised her option.”

Exercising her options or not, I’m just glad that waste of human flesh is out. She won’t be around to stir up the Kooks anymore. But I have a sneaking suspicion we haven’t heard the last of the Queen of Hate.

McCain Closes Gap According to AP/Ipsos Poll

April 10, 2008 Election 2008, Opinion, Presidential Candidates Comments Off

Regular readers of this blog will understand that I only watch one poll. I only rely on data collected and reported by Rasmussen Reports.

That said, however, new Associated Press/Ipsos polling indicates that John McCain has closed the more than 10 point gap between he and Illinois Senator Barack Hussein Obama.

From Breitbart.com:

Republican Sen. John McCain has erased Sen. Barack Obama’s 10-point advantage in a head-to-head matchup, leaving him essentially tied with both Democratic candidates in an Associated Press-Ipsos national poll released Thursday.

The survey showed the extended Democratic primary campaign creating divisions among supporters of Obama and rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and suggests a tight race for the presidency in November no matter which Democrat becomes the nominee.

McCain is benefiting from a bounce since he clinched the GOP nomination a month ago. The four-term Arizona senator has moved up in matchups with each of the Democratic candidates, particularly Obama.

An AP-Ipsos poll taken in late February had Obama leading McCain 51-41 percent. The current survey, conducted April 7-9, had them at 45 percent each. McCain leads Obama among men, whites, Southerners, married women and independents.

Clinton led McCain, 48-43 percent, in February. The latest survey showed the New York senator with 48 percent support to McCain’s 45 percent. Factoring in the poll’s margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, Clinton and McCain are statistically tied.

You can take all the national polls you want, but the real test is in the state by state match-ups in key states. Rasmussen classifies states as Safely Democrat, Likely Democrat, Leans Democrat, Toss-up, Leans Republican, Likely Republican, and Safely Republican. Discounting the Safely and Likely states, the key states are in the Leans and Toss-up categories. Those states according to Rasmussen Reports are (with electoral votes):

Leans Democratic: Iowa (7), Minnesota (10), New Mexico (5), Pennsylvania (21) and Wisconsin (10).

Toss-Up: Colorado (9), Michigan (17), Nevada (5), New Hampshire (4), and Ohio (20).

Leans Republican: Florida (27), Missouri (11), Virginia (13).

The Toss-up states may have the most clout. In Rasmussen’s most recent polling in those states there is a picture forming.

By Percentage-

    Colorado (9):

    McCain v Obama: 46-46
    McCAin v Clinton: 52-38

    Michigan (17):

    McCain v Obama: 43-42
    McCain v Clinton: 45-42

    Nevada (5):

    McCain v Obama: 41-45
    McCain v Clinton: 43-44

    New Hampshire(4):

    McCain v Obama: 46-43
    McCain v Clinton: 47-41

    Ohio(20):

    McCain v Obama: 47-40
    McCain v Clinton: 47-42

There are 55 electoral votes in the Toss-Up states alone and with only counting the Safely and Likely states, the Democrats are only leading Republicans by 1 electoral vote at 190-189. It requires 270 electoral votes in order to win the Presidency. Those 55 votes may be the most key votes in the electoral college. Should the vote go the way of this post, McCain has the majority of those votes. Combine that with some possible defections in the Leans category, and McCain is in a much better position than polls like the AP/Ipsos poll suggests.

Leans Democrat states: Iowa (7), Minnesota (10), New Mexico (5), Pennsylvania (21) and Wisconsin (10).

Leans Republican: Florida (27), Missouri (11), Virginia (13).

According to Rasmussen:

When “leaners” are added to the total, the Democrats now lead with 243 Electoral Votes to 240 for the GOP.

If you count the Toss-up votes above polling for McCain, The 30 votes needed are there. 41 actually.

What is needed is active campaigning by McCain in Iowa (7), Minnesota (10), New Mexico (5), Pennsylvania (21) and Wisconsin (10). Currently McCain is leading Obama by 1% and Clinton by 2% in Pennsylvania. He’s leading Clinton in the remainder of the states but trials Obama.

As we get closer to the last set of primaries, we may see those numbers increase for McCain and some shifting in states like Pennsylvania with their 21 electoral votes.

A word to my Conservative colleagues who say they cannot vote for McCain.

If you stay home the damage that would be caused by your not voting may be irreversible. Can you live with that?

RINO War May Lead to Liberal Victory

The RINO tag may lead to a defeat in November for the Republican nominee. There are plenty of my compatriots out there who cannot bring themselves to vote for John McCain because of McCain-Kennedy or McCain-Feingold or even the proposed McCain-Lieberman bills. I understand their position and I must say that I agree with their distaste for the Senator’s co-sponsorship of these bills. But what we need to think about is the long term impact of allowing a liberal to win in November.

As Sean Hannity is apt to say, would you rather have a President that you agree with zero percent of the time (Clinton or Obama) or one that you may agree with only 65% of the time? I would say the latter rather than the former.

The divisions within the Democrat Party won’t last campers. The fast-food, instant gratification mentality of the common Politically Apathetic American Lemming will allow the differences within their party to melt away by the beginning of October. Ask yourself, do you really want to see a President Barack Hussein Obama who would kiss up to the enemies of this nation such as Mahmoud Iwannajihad and Hugo Chavez? To you want to see a President Barack Hussein Obama appointing more Ruth Bader Ginsburgs to the Supreme Court? Do you really want to see a President Barack Hussein Obama as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States? I for one don’t and the only answer we have is to vote for John McCain in spite of his RINO label.

Remember, I was once where you are. I said that I couldn’t vote for McCain and that we should probably allow the Dems have 08 and begin a search for a more Conservative candidate for 2012. But the long term damage that the current Congress is producing would be magnified by a liberal President and that I cannot live with. We are reaping what we sowed in 2006 when economic Conservatives stayed home on election day. We have the Do-Nothing Congress. Thank GOD we have the Do-Nothing Congress because if they were able to get things done we’d be in the hurt locker. With a liberal President, they would be able to get their programs done and that my friends is very scary.

Liberal Contradictions About Iraqi Oil and the War

I find it incredibly ironic that those who first began to oppose the “War in Iraq” did so on the basis of “No Blood for Oil” as if we would be pillaging Iraq’s oil as we conquered their country. These same libtarded members of Congress are now advocating that Iraq tap into their oil surplus to rebuild their own country. Who buys this oil? The United States of course.

The anti-war slogan “No Blood for Oil” made it seem like we would be willing to trade American, or worse yet to the libtards – Iraqi, blood for plundered oil. Remember the protests? We were only going to war with Iraq to steal their oil. Not to rid the world of a dictator who has openly boasted about his willingness to use chemical weapons against his own people let alone a sworn enemy. Not to rid the world of a dictator suspected of attempting to acquire nuclear materials and weapons. Not to rid the world of a dictator who was willing to allow his own people to starve as he collected millions of dollars through a loophole in the UN’s “Oil for Food” program and used the money to build more extravagant palaces and acquire weapons to re-arm his army. Oh no, the US wasn’t waging war against a war-lord who gained his political position through assassination and maintained it through more assassinations.

The libtarded Bush Derangement Syndrome mantra about the war is “Bush lied, people died” implying that President Bush knew before the invasion of Iraq that they had no Weapons of Mass Destruction. This is a sentiment that has never been proven. If President Bush honestly believed that those weapons did exist, as Saddam Hussein (remember that name) led the rest of the world believe, then he didn’t lie about anything.

The truth my friends is that the war was fought to keep weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of radical Islamic Terrorists. The world believed that Iraq had them because Hussein led the world to believe that he had them. We believed him when he said that he had them and it got him hung.

So now the left wants to dictate to Iraq that they use their oil revenues to rebuild their nation. That was the plan from the beginning. We still heard the cries of “No Blood for Oil”.

Trouble in Nepal

April 9, 2008 News, World Events Comments Off

A communist candidate for an assembly aimed at rewriting the national constitution in Nepal was killed on Tuesday two days ahead of national elections. This sparked violence between “former” communist rebels and police and at least 1 person was killed when police opened fire.

From FoxNews.com:

Police opened fire on rampaging protesters in western Nepal on Wednesday, killing at least one a day ahead of a landmark election to chart the country’s political future, a police official said.

The protesters, enraged by the slaying of a candidate a day earlier, began smashing stores and vandalizing buses in the mountainous Surkhet district, prompting police to fire at them with live ammunition, said the area’s police chief, Ram Kumar Khanal.

The protesters were defying a curfew imposed in the area following the killing Tuesday of the candidate, Khanal said. One of the protesters was killed Wednesday, he said.

The candidate? Rishi Prasad Sharma of the Communist Party of Nepal United Marxist Leninist was killed on Tuesday by an “unknown gunman in Jahare Bazar town in Surkhet district” according to Government Administrator Anil Pandey.

The elections originally scheduled for Thursday have been suspended are were to be part of a peace agreement with a Communist rebel group known as the Maoists.

I find it interesting that at a time when the whole world is protesting Communist China’s occupation of Tibet that neighboring Nepal would actually recognize Communists as a legitimate political party within their system. I mean, aren’t they worried that any Communist elected officials would be puppets of, I don’t know, Communist China?!?
