A Civics Failure in America

During my time off, I did have occasion to encounter the uneducated potential voters in Montgomery County (Ohio). One thing occurred to me above everything else - no one actually knows how our government operates. We began to see this nationally after September 11th when the federal budget burst its seems and we ventured into deficit spending once again. We heard grumbles emerge from the Koolaid Kids (aka Democrats) that Clinton balanced the budget and he brought about a surplus. Well not exactly.

According to Article I of the United States Constitution, Congress controls the purse strings of this nation. At the time the budget got balanced and we began to see an actual surplus, Congress was controlled by Republicans. So a Republican Congress presented the then Democrat President with a budget that he had to sign or be forced into showing the world that it is his Party which spend us into deficit spending (traditionally). The uneducated electorate of this country wrongly credits Mr. Clinton with creating the surplus.

The Republican controlled 109th Congress did very little to alleviate this by acting like spendaholic Democrats. This led to the ill-advised Conservative walk-out during the 2006 mid-term elections. The walk-out itself proves that Conservatives know who controls the purse strings. But those who largely rely on a very biased media for their information about our government, or worse, those who allow their opinions to be formed by others, have no clue to the facts. George W. Bush, who - let me go on record as saying - is not a Conservative, has been demonized by those influencing those who I call Politically Apathetic American Lemmings.

Knowing this, Congressional Democrats have the intention of continuing to “do-nothing” on spending packages until AFTER election day. Why? So they can ride the wave of voter ignorance and get a political hack, who is largely unqualified, elected President. Once Obama wins, in their opinion, they can raise taxes and spend this nation into the proverbial poorhouse because you, the electorate, gave them the ok to do so by electing a liberal Democrat President.

How do we beat the ignorance? We do so by not attempting “teach lessons” on election day.

Before you decide to stay home and allow the Politically Apathetic American Lemmings to decide the next “Leader of the Free World” ask yourself a single question. Which is better - a President that I agree with 60% of the time or one I agree with 0% of the time?

Allowing Obama to win in November will bring about the downfall of that Free World.
