"In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president." - Ann Coulter

What If - McCain Chooses Ridge or Lieberman for Veep?

Then we should prepare for a President Barack Hussein Obama and the ushering in of the Union of Soviet States of America. Why? Because Conservatives will stay home. We will see a repeat of the Conservative exodus in November of 2006.

Right now I’m to the point that I personally will be voting for McCain for one reason only, to prevent the above scenario from occurring. That said however, I may be sitting at home on election day should John McCain further deliberately alienate Conservatives by selecting a Democrat or a Pro-Choice “Republican” for his running mate.

I am anxiously awaiting the announcement of his choice.

I think you are making a big mistake voting for McCain, period. But to your point, i think you would be making a mistake. If you sit out then you vote is wasted, but I assume you will vote locally so you are still doing your part. I would recommend either Bab Barr of the LP or Chuck Baldwin of the CP. Both are very good men dedicated to the US Constitution and liberty. While neither might win at least you are sending a message, where as not voting only helps the political elite.

Just some thoughts; I enjoyed your blog. I just started blogging so please check out my blog in the coming months and see how it shapes up.

Voting 3rd Party is always a “mistake” as you call it. As much as I do not want to stay home on election day (because I do want my voice to be heard) casting a futile vote is the same as teaching on game day. You just don’t do it.

It is bad enough that we ostensibly have a 3rd Party candidate for a Republican Nominee as it is, I refuse to vote for one.

A wasted vote is any vote cast for an individual who does not have a reasonable shot at victory.

    As to my voting locally…

If I were to not show on election day it would not be a waste locally as I am new to my area and not familiar with the local politics as of yet. So far I cannot say that I have a dog in the hunt here. State-wide, there are no offices up this cycle and neither of our Senators are up for re-election. The only worry is the House. The area that I now live in is heavily Republican and his seat is considered safe as safe can get.

I have moved away from party politics and now vote for the person rather than the party. If I continued to vote for the party, as in the case of the Ohio Republican Party, I would truly be pissing up a rope. I believe the days of the GOP and ORP are coming to an end.

Good luck in your new district.
