Obama Losing Dem Leaning Indies

I had an opportunity to spend some time last night with someone that I don’t always see eye to eye with when it comes to politics. She expressed to Mrs. Gribbit and me that she doesn’t “trust” Barack Obama. She stated to me that she has been watching and waiting for Obama to say anything of substance and he hasn’t.

Now this person has confessed to me that she isn’t a Republican or a Democrat but rather an Independent who leans Democrat. So it can be understood that she and I don’t agree politically too often.

A few weeks ago I had occasion to speak to another person, who is quite liberal to be perfectly honest, who expressed to me that Obama is even a bit too liberal for her.

What does this say about Obama? It says that even among self-professed liberals and those who lean Democrat that Obama is falling short on the substance and that will cost him the election.

The woman that we spent time with last night would probably have voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton. When I expressed that I am not happy with John McCain and that on election day I won’t be voting for anyone but rather against someone. She actually agreed with me and said that is what she will be doing as well.

We had quite the discussion about Barack Obama and his credentials as an empty suit. She agreed that the simple words of ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ can only take this “person” so far. She even agreed with me when I said that I couldn’t bring myself to vote for anyone who spouted platitudes of ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ without defining what I should have ‘Hope’ in and what he plans on changing. ‘Change’ what from what to what, where are the specifics?

Obama has stated that he wants to be a unifying candidate and he may get his wish. He may be unifying a couple of self-professed liberals with this Conservative in voting not for John McCain but against Barack Hussein Obama.
