Newsweek: ‘Recession Over’ as GDP Sits at -1%

In the lead up to the 2008 elections, the extremely left leaning media of this country were trying to convince you that the nation was in recession when key indicators suggested economic growth not recession. They created the current recession by convincing you it existed when it didn’t. Now, one of the leftarded media outlets is trying to convince you that the recession that they helped create is over when the key economic indicator of the existence of a recession shows evidence that it the recession is continuing..

But according to all of the economic indicators, Newsweek is a bit premature in that announcement. This includes the most important indicator – the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

A recession is defined as 2 or more consecutive quarters of negative GDP. The main stream media all were announcing that the United States was in recession when the nation still had positive GDP numbers. And now, Newsweek in their infinite stupidity is announcing the end of said recession unilaterally with no evidence to back it up. But what the hell, evidence doesn’t mean a fucking thing to these assholes.

CNN is reporting, ‘Obama mocks Newsweek cover, Newsweek hits back‘.

“I don’t know whether you’ve seen the cover of the latest Newsweek magazine on the rack at the grocery store, but the cover says: ‘The Recession is Over,’” the president said as part of his prepared remarks at the event.

“I imagine you might have found that news a little startling,” Obama continued. “I know I did.”

Obama went on to say while certain indicators are improving, like the stock market and home sales, “That’s little comfort if you are one of the folks who have lost their job.”

For the first time in his short Presidency, Barack Obama is correct. It is little comfort for the couple of million people who have lost their jobs since the Man with the Middle Name Hussein took over. He has been consistently wrong in every prediction that he has made from the campaign on.

He warned us that if we didn’t pass his economic stimulus package that unemployment would climb to 8.5%. With the national unemployment numbers flirting with 10% and the jobless rate in the Democratic People’s Republic of Michigan tipping the scales at a whopping 15%, somehow I believe the douchebag from Chicago got that one wrong.

He said that his stimulus package would create jobs. Wrong again. Green jobs – wrong. The only evidence that I personally have been able to find that any of his stimulus claims are being implemented is a sign on I-75 southbound into Dayton, Ohio that claims that a project begun 8 years ago, the I-70/I-75 Interchange, and near completion is part of the Obama Porkulus package. I’m sorry, but I’m sure funding for that piece of road work was secured before ground was broken. The same can be said for the other I-75 project. Ground was broken on that in early 2008. So somehow I doubt Porkulus funding got those projects off the ground or created any jobs there since they were both going before Obamaramadingdong secured his Party’s nomination.

Barry followed up his extremely expensive political payoff package with another aimed at cutting greenhouse emissions when in fact, it does nothing of the sort. It is another tax package dreamed up by the President and put into a bill by SanFranNan, both of whom have never seen a tax proposal they haven’t absolutely been in lust with. The House Cap and Trade bill doesn’t curb the emissions of greenhouse gasses. It only taxes them. Somehow they have the idea that raising taxes on businesses in this country will somehow create jobs. I’ve never heard anything more ignorant in my life. But they truly believe this tripe.

Now Barry, Nan, and Harry Reid (the human sleeping pill) have another brilliant idea. Let’s place greater mandates on the health care industry by forcing Doctors out of the profession through regulation and lower compensation for government funded options. Let’s place a mandate on the American people to get private coverage before this bill becomes law or be forced onto a government run health care system that will create waiting lists, rationing of care, and the end of privacy. Let’s remove the patient and the doctor from the decision making process and put an empathy free board of bureaucrats in charge of making health care decisions for people they’ve never met. And while we are at it, how about ending care for seniors and fund as many abortions as we can to reduce the population.

What’s next for this turd? Soylent Green?!?

So no Newsweek, the recession that you helped create by instilling fear into the minds of many non-thinking lemmings out there who wrongly believe that you are an independent news service is not over. It is alive and well and about to receive a huge shot in the arm if the House and Senate pass Obama’s health care scheme.

Boyce Awards State Contract – Get’s Fundraiser In Return

Ohio State Treasurer Kevin Boyce awarded Key Bank a contract last week worth more than $160,0000 a year. That in itself is no biggie since it is expected to save the taxpayers of Ohio an estimated $83,000 by having Key Bank process state checks rather than 2 current State Treasury employees. The problem arises when officials from Key Bank are hosting a fund-raiser for Boyce’s re-election effort today.

According to the Dayton Daily News -

Key Bank lobbyist Erskine Cade, who is co-hosting the fund-raiser at the Key Bank Tower in downtown Cleveland, agreed and said he didn’t even know about the new contract.

I find it difficult to believe that a lobbyist, whose job it is to twist arms of state officials on behalf of his client, wouldn’t be aware of a $160,000 a year contract awarded to his client. That just seems outside the realm of not only possibility but probability.

Key Bank’s political action committees have contributed $680,634 to state and local candidates and parties over the last five years, including $3,250 to Boyce’s campaigns, according to state records.

Boyce, a Democrat and a former Columbus City Councilman, was appointed state treasurer in January by Gov. Ted Strickland.

He is running for election against Republican Josh Mandel, a state representative and Iraqi war veteran from Lyndhurst.

Cade and Charlie Luken, former Cincinnati mayor and another Key Bank lobbyist, are listed as hosts for the fund-raiser. Boyce hired Luken’s sister to work treasurer’s office.

No surprise that a politician of the Democrat persuasion would hire the sister of a lobbyist to work for him as a holder of public office. There is an awful lot of back scratching done in that Party.

The Ohio Citizen Action has weighed in on the subject of following a contract with a fundraiser for the person who awarded the contract.

“This could be the right decision but it’s clouded by this fundraiser and it’s clouded by how quickly this happened,” said Catherine Turcer of Ohio Citizen Action, a non-partisan good government organization.

Currently, when the state issues a check to pay for something, it gets processed by the banks and sent back to the state as a printed image. Electronic images of checks will replace printed images.

At issue is not the contract. It seems like a logical step for the state to take given this is the electronic age and all. The problem occurs when the very people whose job it is to secure these types of contracts for Key Bank are in turn hosting a fund-raiser for the very person who awarded the contract. And not a year or two in the future, but less than a week.

It isn’t like Boyce has any hopes for my vote anyway, but do you really want a State Treasurer who accepts campaign contributions and fund-raising events from those he awards contracts to?

Even If The Birth Certificate Is Real, Is Obama Eligible?

A lot of effort is going into ascertaining whether Barack Obama’s birth took place in Hawaii or not. My position is simple, irregardless if he was a natural born citizen at the time of his birth, did he forfeit that birth right when his mother and step-father took him to Indonesia and registered him for school?

Under Indonesian law at the time, for a child to be enrolled in a state run school that child had to be a citizen of Indonesia. Barack Obama has claimed that he did not attend a Madrassa as claimed by some but rather he attended public school while in Indonesia. If this is true, then he is claiming Indonesian citizenship at that time not US citizenship. Countering the public school claims, a record has surfaced that Barack’s step-father, Lolo Soetoro actually registered young Barry Soetoro in a Catholic School in Jakarta. Listed under religion for little Barry Soetoro? Islam.

Either way, Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama had to be a citizen of Indonesia in order to be registered in the first place. And as such no longer a citizen (natural born or otherwise) of the United States. Duel citizenship did not exist at that time.

So the major question that I believe the White House, the Obama’s, the Democrat Party, and the media is really avoiding is whether Mr. Obama ever regained his citizenship? If so, is he still considered natural born after forfeiting it in Indonesia? When he re-entered the United States was it on a US passport or an Indonesian passport? If it was under an Indonesian passport, is he even in this country legally?

When he made his trip to Pakistan it is rumored to have been under an Indonesian passport. If this is true, isn’t it likely that Mr. Obama re-entered the United States under that same passport? It has also been rumored that he received a foreign student grant or scholarship when attending Occidental College. If so, what proof did Barry have to prove his foreign citizenship? Could it have been this rumored Indonesian passport?

Did he defraud the people of the state of Illinois by running and being elected to the State Senate and United States Senate? Has he defrauded the people of the United States by running for an office that he is ineligible for? These are questions that deserve answers.

We may never know the answers to these questions because the President has sealed all of his records and effectively cut-off the ability for the public to know.

Isn’t it interesting that NONE of these records are open for public scrutiny? His original birth record has been destroyed by the hospital, his school records are sealed, and he’s spending millions of dollars fighting the question over his citizenship. There would be only 1 reason to fight release of any of the requesting information. He has something to hide. What is it?

And an even bigger question will be what if he isn’t eligible? What happens? Who is the legal President of the United States if Barack Obama is the fraud many of us believe him to be? Is it Big Mouth Joe? Or would the entire 2008 Democrat ticket be considered voided because of fraud? After-all, the Party didn’t do enough to ascertain whether or not their candidate was eligible to hold the office that he was running for. Or does it fall upon John McCain to assume the Presidency by default?

What would happen to all the bills that he fraudulently signed into law? Would they be voided as well? What about the appointment of Sonya Sotomayor to the Supreme Court? Would it also be voided? What about operational orders for the military? They would be invalid and unlawful because they were issued by someone who cannot be President of the United States.

Something about this guy stinks to high heaven. And We The People need to know what is causing that odor. Our very existence as a nation depends upon answers to these very important questions yet the President is fighting to keep this information from you. Why?

The easiest way to dispel the rumors and speculation if he is indeed eligible to hold the office of President is to release all the requested documentation. Failure to do so endangers our very way of life.

I find it incredibly ironic that those of the counter-culture who protested conformity 40+ years ago are now themselves preaching to the rest of us that we must conform to their will now because they are in charge. Moreover, it is a bit disheartening to think about the mental capacity of these same people. I mean, think about it. The Timothy Leary’s of that generation are now in command. How many of these people “Tuned In, Turned On, and Dropped Out?”

The people who now run this nation, teach in our institutions of higher learning and train those who teach our children in the 1960s routinely took mind altering drugs that have some serious adverse after-effects if used long-term. LSD has been proven to cause permanent delusions in long-term users. It has been proven to cause psychotic behavior in its long-term users to the point that many can be classified as clinically insane.

Have you ever had occasion to walk down a city street and see some 1960s hippy hold-over who has the thousand yard stare? Don’t fool yourself into believing that it is because of Vietnam. Chances are it’s from drugs. Or how about someone of that age group yelling at a sign post, tree, or utility poll? Same answer.

Our current Speaker of the House is of this generation. It is true that she didn’t even live in San Francisco until 1969 – but the 60s counterculture was nationwide by 1965. I wonder how many psychedelic substances she’s ingested over the decades? We already know that she’s not beyond paying someone to inject a known nerve agent into her body so do you honestly think that she wasn’t a part of the 60s counterculture? Somehow I see old SanFranNan at Altamont in 1969. Dropping acid and pissing off Hell’s Angels.

Doubt my LSD speculation? Just look at the “deer caught in headlights” look she has when someone asks her a question that she’s ill-prepared to answer. That my friends is the thousand yard stare I spoke of earlier. And to be honest, no one actually listens to any of her press conferences so that makes her similar to the above example of a person yelling at a tree doesn’t it.

LSD is known to make people delusional. Problem in our case is that there too many in this country ready to indulge SanFranNan in her delusions. Kind of like the DRONES.

This quotation from ‘The Walrus and The Carpenter’ is often quoted in relation to the truth. A truth that someone may not want to hear and another may not really want to divulge.

After a couple of weeks of self-doubt and questioning brought on by those on the left whose goal it is to silence those who seek out and discuss the truth regarding the agenda of the left, I have spent the day devouring the writings of others like me who doubt that the current administration has anything but contempt for us – the lowly governed class. What I can’t understand is the insistence of these same reprehensible people that they are thinking human beings when they do nothing but parrot the Democrat Party elitists and attack anyone who dare challenge the words of the President, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. It seems to me that they are nothing but the lowly foot-soldiers – the stormtroopers as it were – of the same elitists they parrot.

Leaving the unfortunates to themselves is something that I’ve promised myself, my family, friends, and readers. In that light, I will only reference them from this point forward as DRONES (in all caps) because of their non-thinking nature and blind obedience to an ideology which has failed each and every time it has ever been attempted.

As I stated above, I spent today devouring anything written by friends, colleagues, and those I admire for their insight and wit. Of all the articles that I’ve read today, Austin Hill’s Townhall.com contribution stuck out the most. Austin asks a question -

Why Aren’t Americans Obeying Obama?

As Austin rightly points out in his article, Americans are not subjects of some great sovereign. We are the government who then entrusts its management to a select group of people elected to terms of specific length. In the current case, the electorate wrongly or rightly selected Barack Obama to manage the people’s government on November 4, 2008. In the roughly 6 months since his taking power, the nation has slipped further into the abyss of the current global economic crisis. Each time one of his programs is implemented, we slide a little further. What does this say of the man who got himself elected solely based upon his communications skills. Skills which have been proven to only exist if his speech writer has the opportunity to prepare his words in advance and deliver them via teleprompter. Anyone with a high school education can sound politically eloquent when all of their words are fed to them via electronic device.

Special note: President George W. Bush was derided by many in this nation for his inability to communicate. I on the other hand would prefer to have a Commander-in-Chief who understood the word nuclear even if he couldn’t say it than the current pinhead who thinks that if he says the United States is going to disarm, those words would be enough to short circuit the third world’s ambitions to join the nuclear club.

And speaking of Bush, some of his best speeches, the ones where he really spoke to the people, were the speeches where he didn’t have any prepared texts. Obama, on the other hand, cannot say the same.

Austin Hill points out in his article today Obama’s need of control –

President Barack Obama has demonstrated an unquenchable need to control the lives of private citizens, and the workings of private sector society, and his indignation is aimed at those who would question this. Two American car companies, multiple banks and financial institutions, the rates of salaries paid to business executives, the entire American medical profession and health care industry, even content on the internet – - Obama will control it all. He knows best in all circumstances, and our role is to simply comply.

And our duty – for the good of the country mind you – is to obey. To let him have his way and obey.

This brought up an interesting thought as I read Austin’s article. We’ve all joked, “When I’m elected dictator…” But in this case, Obama has been. Or at least in his mind he has.

His is to edict and ours is to obey after-all he only has 4 years to destroy what’s left of the old America.

So to Lewis Carroll I say – yes pigs do have wings. America is now a socialist nation and we have a leader who is attempting to establish himself as a person of nobility if not divinity. Only problem, our new king smells like cabbage does when heat is applied.

Pelosi and Waxman Conspire to Bypass Yet Another Democratic Process [UPDATED]

As the debate on the hill continues over the President’s signature issue, Conservative Democrats, the so-called Blue Dogs, are holding out in a key Committee which could hold up the process indefinitely should the leadership cling to their fiscally irresponsible bill. So what is Henry and SanFranNan to do? Why bypass the Energy and Finance Committee altogether and take the bill directly to the floor of course. But is that advisable? I don’t think so!

The Blue Dogs are pretty solid in their resolve to oppose this bill as long as it has the current bankrupting price tag. With the balance of power in the House divided 256 Democrat to 178 Republican, Pelosi et al cannot afford a defection of 52 members of her Party that are poised to vote with the Republicans on this bill. Do the math. If Pelosi loses 52 votes, she only has 204 for the bill with the 52 siding with Republicans that gives the opposition 230 and the bill will die a very painful death.

These Blue Dogs have been burned by the Porkulus and are in a position to take a political hit over Cap and Trade come November of next year. For them now to drastically change their collective minds about this piece of shit bill would ruin any hope of re-election from a fiscally conservative constituency. Lest Nancy and Henry forget, every single House seat is up for grabs come November 2, 2010. Nancy may be safe coming from the libtard haven of San Francisco and Waxman may have an easier time than most, but for middle America fiscally conservative Democrats, re-election possibilities are beginning to look in doubt.

So Nancy has a dilemma on her hands…

Bypass a key Committee because she doesn’t like the fact that she can’t ram this bill through the House before anyone has a chance to read the whole bill as was done with the Porkulus and with Cap and Trade. And in doing so usurp the democratic process OR does she allow it to stall in Committee until after the Congress recesses for the summer. Either way the bill is sure to die in its current form.

More good news out of Rasmussen Reports.

Obama’s national approval rating has dipped below 50% for the first time in his Presidency. In a nationwide telephone poll conducted yesterday evening, Obama only garnered 49% over-all favorable marks. Those strongly opposed to Obama’s job as president continue to outpace those who strongly approve as Rasmussen’s Presidential Index is also at its lowest level of Obama’s Presidency with a -8.

According to the poll…

Fifty-three percent (53%) now oppose the Congressional health care reform package. That’s up eight points over the past month. Just 20% now see health care as the most important of the President’s priorities. Nearly twice as many, 37%, say deficit reduction is most important.

Ben Smith of the Politico reported on July 17th…

Conservative leaders will push delay any vote on health care reform until after the August recess to capitalize on what they say is a growing tide of opposition to reform measures, they said on a conference call with “tea party” participants today.

“I can almost guarantee you this thing won’t pass before August, and if we can hold it back until we go home for a month’s break in August,” members of Congress will hear from “outraged” constituents, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint said on the call, which was organized by the group Conservatives for Patients Rights.

“Senators and Congressmen will come back in September afraid to vote against the American people,” DeMint predicted, adding that “this health care issue Is D-Day for freedom in America.”

“If we’re able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him,” he said.

His Waterloo or his “Read My Lips” it matters not, the fact remains that as more details about this boondoggle are leaked to the public, the less the public likes the idea of government controlling the health care system. This legislation will not be voted on in the Senate before the August recess as predicted by Sen. DeMint and as such will face intense scrutiny during the break.

Senate Democratic leaders on Thursday abandoned plans for a vote on health care before Congress’ August recess, dealing a blow to President Barack Obama’s ambitious timetable to revamp the nation’s $2.4 trillion system of medical care.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., delivered the official pronouncement on what had been expected for weeks, saying, “It’s better to have a product based on quality and thoughtfulness rather than try to jam something through.” – The Associated Press via Breitbart.com

This decision by the Senate Majority Leader goes against the strategy of the President and the Democrat Leadership of both houses since the beginning of this Administration in January which is to ram through everything on the liberal wish list before anyone has a chance to read any of the legislation. The less the American people know about what Washington is doing, the better it is for Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and especially Nancy Pelosi.

However, Senators and House members still have to go before their constituents and explain to them why this harmful legislation is important to them when in fact, it is only important to the President. Not because DeMint said so – because Barack Obama himself said so.

The next tactic of the left is to attempt to block the release of information from Republicans to the American people. In a story headlined on the Drudge Report…

Dems Block Republican Health Care Mailing; Attempt to censor chart…

At the heart of the matter is a mailing that included a chart put together in an attempt to illustrate graphically the bureaucratic mess that the House version of Obama’s health care take over creates. The biggest issue that House Democrats had with the mailing and the chart was that it called the Democrat architects out on the creation of something called, “Health Insurance Exchange Trust Fund” which under the plan would draw funding from the IRS for no apparent reason. Democrats are calling that false – but then again they refuse to acknowledge that page 16 of the proposed legislation also makes private insurance illegal beginning the first day the legislation is enforced.

From the proposed bill Section 102 states -

(a) Grandfathered Health Insurance Coverage Defined- Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ‘grandfathered health insurance coverage’ means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met:

(1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT-

Here the government puts limitations on who can enroll in existing private insurance groups. It continues -

(A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1.

Someone ought to explain this to the President because just 3 days ago, he did not know this existed. But it does.

The ballyhoo about this bill from the left is that it will include everyone. Everyone will have health coverage. It will be cheaper. And everyone will live in peace and harmony in this socialist created Utopian nightmare.

The CBO’s numbers and the ballyhoo don’t match. The cost according to the CBO is in excess of $1 Trillion in just the first 10 years of government control. Beyond that I’ve heard estimates in excess of $20 Trillion. That does not sound cheaper to me.

There are people, for whatever reason, who choose not to be covered by insurance. And yes, there are people who cannot afford coverage who also do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid. But the number of these individuals does not add up to the numbers the Administration and the proponents would have you believe. Their numbers include those who can afford coverage and choose not to buy it AND illegal aliens who the Democrats refuse to exempt from coverage under the “government option.”

Some on the left will say that I don’t want the poor to have health coverage. But those people refuse to acknowledge a few facts. The first being that I am not advocating cutting off those who currently receive government funded health care. On the contrary. I want to protect the quality (such as it is) of health care for those very same people. Those who suffer with government funded health coverage are already living under an impediment. The government compensates health care providers at such a low rate that many providers opt out of the government plans reducing the availability of quality care for those on the public system. Flooding this public system with more people will not improve the quality of care to those already on that system. If anything, it will reduce the quality of care through health care rationing due to the lack of quality providers accepting the public system.

The problem with health care in this country is medical malpractice lawsuits. Judges in this country can award damages to anyone whose scars don’t heal to their liking an unlimited amount of damages. Without serious tort reform in this country, health care costs will continue to rise and fewer people will decided that the health care field is worth all the years of study and all the debt that studying creates.

I’m sorry but the government does not have such a good track record when it comes to running things. For starters, how dependable is your mail delivery? The government runs that. How affective is the government run school systems? I would argue not affective at all. How well has this Congress and this Administration done so far with it’s efforts to stimulate the economy? 9.5% unemployment numbers nationally and 15.5% in the Democratic People’s Republic of Michigan are giving the President and his Congressional pals failing grades on this issue as well. Do you really want these same people running your health care system?

So to answer my title question, Health Care- Obama’s Folly or The Making of a President is simple. Whether his plan passes of fails, his Presidency is shot.

For the past week I’ve been considering this option. BUT – upon further reflection, conversations with my wife, and consultation with trusted friends, I have decided to not take that approach. I have decided that I’m not going away. Gribbit’s Word is going to continue WITH some minor changes…

Think of all the veterans memorials across America; you can find them in nearly every city honoring local heros who fought and died for our country.

Whether it is the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C., or a post office or park named for one of our recently fallen, these tributes serve as unchanging reminders of who we are as a nation, and that our security and freedoms came at a heavy price.

Imagine if all these memorials were gone…

Unbelievably, our veterans memorials are under legal attack by rogue courts and left-wing organizations who are working to remove them from our national conscience.

Liberty Legal Institute and more than 4 million veterans are fighting back, and are taking our cause all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
