The ‘Slaughter Solution’ Officially Nixed By Senate Parliamentarian

I love The Drudge Report. It is like one stop shopping for news stories. As of this writing, there is a headline up on Drudge that says…

Ruling Kills an Option for Moving Health Bill…

Note: The link to the story from Drudge is incorrect and it leads nowhere. In the interest of full disclosure, the link that I’ve embedded is the correct link to the story.

I read that headline and got excited. “Is the plan to use Reconciliation dead?” Not exactly…

According to Roll Call, the Senate Parliamentarian has made a ruling that directly impacts a tactic that has been in the works in the House that has been dubbed the ‘Slaughter Solution’. Named for House Rules Chairman – Louise Slaughter – it is a tactic whereby the House would approve the Senate bill but would not forward it onto the White House for signature until AFTER the Senate approved changes to the current Senate bill through Reconciliation. Problem – the bill must become law before the Senate can modify it through Budget Reconciliation. Meaning, it must have the President’s signature BEFORE the Senate can proceed. If it chooses to.

As I’ve pointed out before, Senate Democrats are going to want the issue of “health care” to die and die quickly after a law if passed. Once the ink from the President’s signature is dry on that document, they want to forget about it because that bill represents a massive net loss in Senate seats for the Democrats on November 4th. Dragging this thing out will only keep the matter fresh in the minds of the voting public and they DoNotWantThat. Senate Democrats are banking on America’s short-term memories and political ADHD to keep them in power even if by only one seat.

If this bill is approved by the House, after the President’s signature is on it, should the Senate attempt to amend it through Budget Reconciliation they can only address items that impact the federal budget. Policy is left out of the equation anyway. So any hopes for substantive changes in the bill are automatically nixed. However, the Republicans will stone wall any changes made to the bill through the amendment process further dragging out the debate. ‘Health Care’ – more aptly named Death Care, will drag out towards the summer months when every single Republican candidate for House and Senate will be using members voting records on this hotbed issue to sink every single Democrat candidate they can.

The American public want a mulligan. They would rather nothing pass than this bill. But Democrat understand if this bill does not pass the President’s agenda is sunk. With 279 of them currently serving in elected office indelibly tied to Obama on this issue, Michael Moore’s prediction of the November election will be an inconvenient reality. He told Rachel Madcow…

“And now it’s like, I just feel like the Democrats are – they’re in for an ass-whooping of Biblical proportions in November if they don’t get off the dime and do the job they were sent there to do. I mean that. I mean, it – don’t they see that?” – source Newsbusters

Vulnerable Democrats are avoiding the President like the plague. When Obama chose to propagandize the American people through an orchestrated event at a St. Louis high school where was Missouri Senatorial candidate Robin Carnahan? She was attending a fundraiser in Washington DC. While Obama was helping incumbent Senator Claire McCaskill raise money for her 2012 re-election campaign.

Obama is fast becoming a political liability for Democrats facing a jobloss in 2010. His track record to this point is dismal. He failed in Copenhagen twice. He failed to be any help in New Jersey and Virginia as both races for governor were lost to the Republican candidates. He failed in Massachusetts allowing the Republican candidate to be elected and losing his filibuster proof Senate.

I said his filibuster proof Senate because that is what it was. A 60 vote majority of yes-men/women. With 60 votes they could have literally rubber-stamped anything that he wanted. But they didn’t and that’s how he ended up in this predicament.

How else can you explain what has happened? How else could his “health care” takeover have failed? It was completely done within his Party. Blaming Republicans to his base may be popular with his incredibly shrinking base but the reality of the situation is understood by a vast majority of voting Americans and it shows in the polls. Even the incredibly Democrat friendly Gallup Poll has Obama’s approval rating at an all time low (for their poll) at 46%. How much lower can he go?

According to Rasmussen Reports and their Presidential Approval Index he is sitting at -21. Meaning 21% more Americans strongly disapprove of his job performance than strongly approve.

Before the 2008 elections I told all of you that Obama is a man who has failed at every single thing he has tried except running for a couple of political offices – including the Presidency. Why would the electorate put trust in a man who is an epic failure? They did and this is what we got.

He is liar of grand proportions who makes Slick Willy’s finger wagging look like an innocent white lie. He has broken just about every single campaign promise he made. Why would anyone trust this man? The incredibly shocking thing is there are millions who do. Thank GOD most of them never vote.

Pelosi: “We’re Close”; But Are They?

For over a year now the Democrats have been engaged in an intraParty battle over what they are attempting to call a health care bill. Before I go on, can we all agree to call a spade a spade here? This isn’t health care reform at all. This is a systematic dismantling of the health insurance industry. Nothing in any of the bills that have been discussed over the past year has anything to do with health care. The Emperor’s quest to make health insurance coverage more affordable has nothing to do with actual health care. Just who pays for it.

We can argue until the cows come home about the validity of the Emperor’s suggested proposals. The truth is what is being discussed isn’t really his bill. He doesn’t have a bill. There are only two real bills. The House bill written by Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman and their lobbying buddies; and the Senate bill written by Harry Reid and his lobbyist buddies. The House bill is now deceased. May it rest for eternity along with the Third Reich.

The current “debate” is over the Senate bill. And much to the dismay of the uber-left, they cannot blame the stalemate on Republicans. Why? Because for over 98% of the time spent “debating” this issue, Republicans were denied a seat at the table. This has been a 100% Democrat show and the hold up is within their Party. Reid, Pelosi, and Obama can talk all they want about Republican obstructionism but truth be told until Scott Brown was seated, Republicans couldn’t stop it.

They wanted this thing passed by the summer recess. That didn’t happen. Then it was Labor Day. Nope. Halloween? Sorry. Thanksgiving? Try again. Christmas… They did get the Senate bill passed by Christmas but it was so far away from the House bill that it was basically a non-starter for Conference. Then along came Mr. 41 – Scott Brown – who has vowed to be a NO vote against this boondoggle. Now the Dems are still attempting to find a way to pass something marked (accurately or not) “health care reform” without needing to include Republicans because if they were forced to include the opposition party they would have to compromise on their more Socialist agenda items. And they are NOT willing to do that.

All the fighting has been between Democrats. Because they cannot achieve cloture in the Senate, the only way to pass anything is for the House to pass the Senate bill as is – without warranty show me the Carfax. But they can’t show the House the Carfax because it doesn’t exist. The premise is that the House would pass the Senate bill as is in exchange for a promise to amend the bill through budge reconciliation after it is signed into law. Yeah right. House members are not about to give the Senate a free pass and not get anything of their bill included.

Unlike what has been plastered all over the media for the past 2 – 3 weeks, reconciliation probably won’t be an issue since the likelihood of the House finding the votes needed to pass the Senate bill is about the same as Frosty the Snowman surviving for an hour in a sauna. Let’s look at some numbers.

The House bill barely passed 220 – 215. 217 votes were needed for passage. One of those votes was a Republicans who is now a confirmed NO vote with no chance of changing. One yes vote (John Murtha) has died and two others yes votes have resigned. Another Democrat was a NO and resigned. Still another No vote is no longer a Democrat as he switched Parties right after the vote. By this math Pelosi has the 216 she needs.[1]

Now lets discuss Pelosi’s problems with another group of yes votes last time. Rep. Bart Stupak and a collection of pro-life Democrats are vowing to vote no because the Senate bill allows for federal funding of abortion. There seems to be a level of conjecture about whether or not Stupak and company are willing to betray the pro-life cause in the face of the Chicago tactics of arm twisting and bribery. Never-the-less, Pelosi needs every single Stupak vote or this fails.

Yet other Democrats who were yes votes on the House bill may be no votes on the Senate bill because it isn’t liberal enough. Many pro-public option Democrats may not vote with Pelosi on this because no public option language is included in the legislation and it cannot be added in reconciliation.

The votes simply do not exist and the longer this drags out the less likely it will be to pass. As time clicks by the deeper into primary season we get. Many of those who the Infestation and Pelosi want to vote for this bill may be unwilling to do so if this drags on much longer. A clear majority of Americans do not want this bill. The nation is divided upon whether anything should be done at this time or not but the fact remains, a majority do not want this bill.

As primary season progresses, fewer Democrats will be willing to stretch their necks for this bill. And that may lead to its ultimate demise. Democrats know how unpopular the bills is and may see a vote in favor of it as being a couple of hundred thousand votes against them for reelection. And they’d be right.

Republicans will be using members’ positions on this bill as a campaign tool against incumbent Democrats in November. No votes will stand a chance but yes votes, unless the member is from a very socialist ‘progressive’ area of the country, will signal an early retirement.

In short I don’t believe they are as close as they are leading to believe. If they were, why then would they be asking the White House to back off their March 18th time-line? Food for thought.

Democrat Cannibalistic Munchfest…

…Let The Feeding Begin

Today class, we are going to examine the Democrat Tribe. They are a less developed community of humans as they become cannibalistic when threatened. Let me explain…

Political failure leads to finger-pointing which then morphs into a sort of twisted political brand of cannibalism. This is especially true for Democrats. It manifested itself rather conspicuously during the Clintonian Infestation and, to this point at a lesser degree, in the Obama Infestation. We haven’t yet seen a massive “redistribution” of the proverbial deck chairs – but it’s coming.

More than at the White House, Democrats in Congress are more apt to throw each other under that political bus than anywhere else. If a Representative or Senator steps out of the pre-carved political groove you can pretty much assume that their current term will also be their last if they have not already entrenched themselves in their seat. We see this already as incumbent Democrats are beginning to face primary challenges in their midterm races. More often than not, moderates are being challenged by the far-left.

What brings about this observation today is a story that appears in The Hill’s online version – Congressional Democrats point finger of blame at Rahm Emanuel. The Hill’s Alexander Bolton points a spotlight on the frustration of Congressional Democrats who are beginning to smell blood in the water. It seems that before the cannibals begin to swarm and close in on someone, there has to be a transgression committed by the individual that makes them already vulnerable, and that is what is happening to Rhambo.

Rham already took a political hit for his choice of words that drew the firestorm begun by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. This transgression combined with his intense personal involvement with the Infestation’s failed effort to get national Death Care passed has driven him underground. While he is in political purgatory, those looking to save their own hides are taking aim at Emanuel and will eventually put enough pressure on the Emperor to make a change. If they can shift the focus from their failure and project[1] it upon Emanuel, thereby lessening the blow to themselves in their re-election efforts, then perhaps they may survive the retribution from the voters for their shameful practice of ignoring their constituents.

Progressives do not believe that Emanuel did enough to swoon impressionable Republicans to the cause. Moderates think the Infestation and Congressional leadership tried to do too much at one time, thus creating a large opposition where Emanuel was the point man for the Infestation.

In a sense, Emanuel used a “scorched earth” policy on Death Care which left the Democrats and the Emperor without a major victory in the first year of this Congress. It is a well known in national politics that the only productive year of a Congress is the first year. Every House member and 1/3rd of the Senate spend year 2 of the Congress running for re-election so nothing generally gets done. Certainly nothing that would risk re-election prospects. No productive first year means an impotent Congress.

With the impending anti-incumbent political tidal wave set to crash into the Democrat majority in November, entrenched Democrats are no longer in a position of safety. The uber-left see 2009 as the wasted opportunity to achieve a century of planning. They came out of their political holes to put forth the most aggressive push toward socializing the United States since FDR and have failed again. Much worse, they’ve exposed themselves for the world to see.

We’ve already begun to see the re-branding of themselves. First they were “progressives” until that became a dirty word in America. They then switched to “liberal” until they destroyed that image. They then wanted to re-claim “progressive” believing it to be a more appealing description of what they are. Now that Americans again know what they wish to “progress” toward, they are re-branding themselves as “POPULIST” because they believe it to be more appealing than “progressive” or “liberal”. As the old saying goes, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.”

In the dust-up to the 2010 midterms we will begin to see changes made. Loyalties will be tested and some abandoned. We’ve seen how Democrats treat their own once they are drummed out of the corps. Ask William Jefferson how it was to be abandoned by his Speaker and his Party. Or John Edwards for that matter. And if you need any further evidence of what I have written ask Senator Joe Lieberman. First his Party runs someone else for his seat forcing him to defend it as an Independent. Then, because he sided with the Republican candidate for President (albeit a PROGRESSIVE Republican), they threatened to strip him of his Committee Chair. THEN, because he opposed the Emperor’s Death Care bill, his wife’s job was threatened. Those power hungry Democrats want to feed. They are eager to feed and nothing will stop them from feeding…even if it’s on their own kind.

Like sharks, Congressional Democrats are beginning to hunt for a scapegoat. Emanuel has been identified as the most vulnerable high profile member of the Infestation. He is someone who does not face re-election this year and is a fitting scapegoat to project their insecurities upon. Let the feeding frenzy begin.

Pelosi: House Doesn’t Have Votes To Pass Senate Bill

SanFran Nan has finally come to terms with the fact that the votes required to circumvent a second Senate battle on Death Care do not exist.

In order to bypass a cloture vote in the Senate the House would have to pass the Senate bill “as is”. Problem… She doesn’t have the votes to do that.

The AP reports via Breitbart:

In its present form without any changes I don’t think it’s possible to pass the Senate bill in the House,” Pelosi said, adding, “I don’t see the votes for it at this time.

Any changes made to the bill would necessarily need to go through the cloture process in the Senate and as we know, it wouldn’t pass.

Her problem is that the uber-left (The Pelosi Left) won’t support a bill that does not expand Medicare and Medicaid and/or a “public option”. Moderates, aka Blue Dogs, won’t vote for the Senate bill without some serious bribery for them. So, Death Care is in all reality – Deader than Ted Kennedy.

Death Care Bill On Life Support?

Both Congressional bodies passed bills independent of each other that include two different and massively expensive approaches on how to implement the President’s Death Care plan. With only gaining 1 Republican vote in the House and no Republican support in the Senate, the Death Care bill is a completely Democrat show. The hold-up with the bill is within the Democrat Party. It is the Dems that can’t reconcile on the best way to implement a bill the Republicans cannot block on their own.

It goes without saying that any significant deviation from the Senate bill will result in a deadlock in the Senate. A cloture vote will not happen. Without a significant deviation from the Senate bill, the egomaniacs in the House leadership will not be able to muster the required 218 votes for passage; especially as more and more House members see in this bill the road to early retirement.

There have already been several announcements declaring retirement in lieu of re-election efforts. One Congressman, Rep. Parker Griffith (AL-5), has even left the Democrat Party and is now aligning himself with the GOP. Still more are facing almost certain defeat on November 4th because of their support of massive spending bills in a recession that seems only to be getting deeper.

Voters see this as a political quagmire. The die hard leftists in the House won’t vote on any bill not including a public option, whereas the Senate can’t achieve cloture on anything that includes a public option. There are major differences in each bill on how to fund them. The Senate bill would tax so-called “Cadillac” health plans at a rate of 40% which would be a blow to the middle class. Many union members have these so-called “Cadillac” plans. House members see this as an affront to their political base.

The House bill, on the other hand, proposes to pay for itself by taxing millionaires. This sentiment is popular with the dregs of society who don’t realize that this is the very group of people who create jobs…but then again most of the public that supports this fiasco don’t want to work to begin with.

Both bills require health coverage of all Americans and include a system of fines for not carrying coverage. This issue has prompted many to discuss the Constitutional implications of the bills. Let us not forget this: nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government granted the responsibility of overseeing the health care industry. The mere discussion of these bills in itself is a violation of the 10th Amendment.

Some in the House are claiming, as Rep. Anthony Weiner (D NY-9) has, that negotiating with the Senate is like negotiating with a gun to their heads. Good. I love the in-fighting. It gives me hope that this POS bill will ultimately fail.

Another problem for the Emperor is that the further we get into 2010, many House members will be less willing to stick their necks out for this plan. This is especially true if the possibility of failure in the Senate exists. If House members stick their necks out and Reid fails to get the 60 votes required for cloture, the Death Care bill will die on the table and flat-line the careers of House members who support it. Because if it should die on the table in the Senate, House members who supported the bill in the House will have sacrificed their political careers for nothing. Make no mistake, support of the Death Care bill will mean the death of many a political career.

Compounding the problems for the Emperor is the fact that the Secretary of State of Massachusetts cannot stall certification of Scott Brown’s victory (assuming he wins next Tuesday) indefinitely. If the House and Senate are going to act, they will need to act quickly or Brown’s ‘NO’ vote will definitely table the bill in the Senate no matter what they come up with.

The best thing for this nation is for them to do nothing at this point. With this Congress, they are doing their best work when they are on recess. It appears to me that unless they get this done now, it won’t get done and a lame duck session of Congress will begin early. If this should happen, this Congress will be hitting their stride.

Obamacare In Danger

Those in favor of the government takeover of the health care industry rejoiced when Sen. Ben Nelson committed his vote for cloture as if Obamacare were a done deal. Well – not so fast.

In the Senate, Obamacare is poised to either pass with a margin of zero or it will fail by a few votes. As House and Senate Democrats meet with the White House to negotiate the language of the final bill, Senators Lieberman and Lincoln and others are watching to see what changes are produced by those negotiations. The language that passed the Senate bill appears to be the only language that is worthy of some Democrat votes. Almost any deviation from the Senate bill might kill the whole deal.

So I say to the Dems negotiating in Washington…

Take it to the limit. Make the final bill everything the Liberals want. Then it will be sure to fail in the Senate.

I’m betting that 60 votes will not exist for Cloture on the Conference Report. How are you wagering?

Keep in mind a few very real truths. Obamacare is already forcing the retirement of 2 Democrat Senators, many more are in danger of losing their re-election bids, 1 House member so far has defected to the Republican Party, and it is looking like a blood bath is in the future come November. Democrats are definitely showing that they are incapable of governing.

Obama, Congress, Health Care, CSPAN, And An Hour

During the 2008 Presidential Election cycle, then Senator Obama vowed that if elected and going forward with his health care plan, the public would be invited to the table. He was recorded on film 8 times making a promise to televise the process on CSPAN. His stated goal? So that the American people could see if their elected officials were working for them or for the insurance and drug companies.

Fast forward to reality.

CSPAN has been locked out since the issue hit Capital Hill. At no time during the process has there been one hearing, one meeting, or one policy discussion about health care covered by CSPAN or the White House Press Pool. Yesterday, under increased pressure from CSPAN and other media outlets normally friendly to the Obama Infestation, the Emperor finally capitulated and invited CSPAN to cover a policy meeting aimed at reconciling the House and Senate versions of Obamacare. But there was a catch. CSPAN’s invitation was for an hour’s worth of coverage. In other words – an hour long photo-op paid for by the nation’s cable industry and ostensibly – their customers.

I can just imagine the funding disclaimer on that CSPAN program…

This program brought to you by the magnificent generosity of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Barry Obama, Supreme Ruler of the 57 states and the District of Columbia. And by… Nancy Pelosi who reminds you that this has been the most open process in history… And by… BigPHARMA stupidly financing trial lawyers with their support of Obamacare… And by… the AMA, AARP, SEIU, ACORN, and the nation’s health insurance agencies who all stand to gain financially through the implementation of federal mandated health care coverage. And finally… By the nation’s cable television providers.

After the disclaimer there will be approximately 56 minutes of introductions of the participants and then the hour will be over. So much for sunshine laws.

A Ray of Hope; The Constitution May Yet Survive Death Care

A few days ago I pronounced the death of the United States Constitution and thus pronounced the American experiment at an end. But that pronouncement may have been premature. The differences within the Democrat Party could still cause this bill to die and save this nation from economic ruin over the ashes of our founding document.

Ultra libtarded members of the House may be of use to the Conservatives in this country. Yes, I say the Daily POS/MoveOn.org types may be the savior of the nation. Let me explain.

Without federal funding for abortions, a government run health plan, and an expansion of Medicare, many ultra leftists in the House will not be voting yes for the final version of the bill. A version mind you that looks to be crafted behind closed doors by SanFran Nan and her dull witted Senate counterpart Harry Reid.

So-called Moderate Democrats in the Senate will not vote for the provisions sought by the ultra libtarded House creating somewhat of a dilemma for the respective leaders.

Combine the internal strife within the Democrat Party with very real threats to the legislation based on conflicts with the Constitution and it seems this legislation is far from passed. That said however even the most hopeful of Conservatives agree that some form of a bill will be passed just so the Emperor can claim victory on one key issue coming into the midterms. The question is, will you be fooled?

Amendment Leads To Bill’s Passage

Democrats who were holding out against SanFran Nan’s 1900+ page, $1 Trillion+ government takeover of health care got a key concession from the Speaker and her band of uber-leftists in the House when it was permitted for an amendment to the Death Care bill to be offered. The amendment addressed a key point of contention between pro-life Democrats and the leftists who are currently running the Party’s Caucus in the House. The Stupak Amendment, named for Rep. Bart Stupak of the Democratic People’s Republic of Michigan, removed federal funding of abortions from the Death Care bill gaining Pelosi the much needed 25 votes necessary for the bill to pass.

We have to give Nancy a lot of credit. Between all the arm twisting and getting members an audience with His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Barry Hussein Obama I – Supreme Ruler of the United Socialist States of Amerika, the Political Messiah of the Masses, and Savior of the World Collective – for a much needed brow beating along with her sublime graciousness in allowing the Stupak Amendment to be offered and passed, got her Death Care bill through the House by a wide margin. A whopping 5 votes. In doing so she has effectively written the American People a prescription of poverty and despair for generations to come. That is… Unless the Senate grows a brain and kills the bill.

Senator Joe Lieberman and others, not happy with the ‘public option’ non-option which in all reality will become a public mandate, have threatened to back a Republican led filibuster. This my fellow peasants is our only salvation. However, should that walking corpse Harry Reid decide to get cute and bypass Cloture and pass the Death Care bamboozle through Reconciliation it may prompt something that I believe the ultra-lefties haven’t considered. Perhaps enough of an electoral swing in the House and Senate to allow for a repeal of this damaging legislation?

Allow me a fantasy for a moment as I outline exactly how this is possible.

54% of the American people are opposed to this government take-over of health care. If these 54% rise up in a mass showing of disapproval of how the current majority in both houses is abusing their power it is possible for there to be a super majority of Republicans sent to Washington for the 112th Congress. The 112th Congress, should it have a veto proof majority, could in all essence repeal every piece of harmful legislation without fear of reprisal from the Emperor.

No matter how unlikely the above scenario seems to be, the American People are approaching the point of open revolt. The key to all of this is for Republicans in the House and Senate along with the incoming Freshmen of the 112th Congress to stand strong with one another and any remaining Democrats willing to cross the aisle in the name of the Will of the People no matter if a Super Majority actually exists or not and it can be done.

Campers, we don’t have the money that the Congress and the Emperor are spending. This money does not exist. And every time they monetize the debt by printing more currency it drives the value of the dollar down. I can only explain this fiscal incompetence on a deliberate and orchestrated effort to destroy the United States as it has existed for over 233 years. Which is precisely what those who desire a full-on socialist America wish.

Some on my side of the blogosphere speculated that Emperor Barry was a Manchurian Candidate when he was first elected. To which I can now respond with a certain level of confidence. No. He wasn’t then and isn’t now anything like a Manchurian Candidate. He was then and is now an openly Communist Dictator who will do whatever it takes to “fundamentally transform America” into his Utopian image. Problem. His Utopian image of America is seen through the myopic failure known as Marxism. And he isn’t even attempting to hide it any longer.

Call Congress and the Senate. Tell them if this bill becomes law you are going to send them into an early retirement.

The Emperor’s Heavy Hand

House Democrats got a taste of Imperial justice today as His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Barack Hussein Obama took time out of his busy schedule of treating his daughters to frozen custard in order for him to be able to condescend and travel all the way across the Mall to the Capital to do the pesky business of arm twisting in favor of his health care Death Care bill. Obama told House Democrats (and I ask that you forgive me for printing the BS laden quotation from His Imperial Majesty)…

“Now is the time to finish the job.”

And people wonder why I call him the Emperor. Well when you make Imperial edicts like a monarch sitting on high, what do you expect to be called?

I digress.

This comes on the heels of Thursday’s impromptu rally on the Capital held by Republican Michelle Bachman of Minnesota. Elected officials who are not listening to their constituents do not want to spend any face time in front of said constituents. They would prefer to do so only if THEY can control the crowd with – I don’t know -SEIU thugs or by having town hall events “by invitation only”.

An estimated 24k plus protesters took time away from their families and their jobs to show up in Washington on Thursday to urge House Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats to “Kill The Bill”. And they were heard. Perhaps the reason why they had time to show up on Thursday is because the Democrats are getting them all laid off.

But again – I digress.

In response to the Emperor’s heavy handed arm twisting, the Republican leadership has a lot to say as well.

Rep. John Boehner, House Minority Leader -

“The American people do not want this. We’re going to do everything we can to make sure this does not happen.”

Rep. Eric Canter, House Minority Whip -

“The bipartisanship is in opposing this bill.”

If at least 21 Democrats cross the aisle and support Republican efforts to “Kill the Bill” the bill is dead. In which case the Speaker will not even bring it to a vote because she is a coward. My last information is that there are over 50 Democrats willing to vote “no” on this legislation which is what prompted the Emperor to come down from on high in order to twist arms for Nancy Pelosi.

It is also my information that there are 47 members of the Blue Dog Democrats which means several non-Blue Dogs are defecting as well. This is all good news for the American people.

Additionally even if this bill were to pass, it would not survive in the Senate. Keep in mind, it is in the Senate that all failed bills get their final death certificates by not even getting an up or down vote. The Senate Majority Leader needs 60 votes to end debate and bring the bill to a vote. Barring Reconciliation, a move which is likely to bring even more ‘no’ votes in the Senate because Senators see the move is an “end run” around the American people, the bill cannot achieve 60 votes on its merits.

Democrat House Members and Senators from traditionally “RED” states and districts saw what happened on Tuesday and they are afraid. Liberals from solidly entrenched “BLUE” states and districts don’t care. Their agenda is clear and they are willing to sacrifice it all for this one chance to pass their dream agenda. But those 47 Blue Dogs in the House don’t see it that way. They see a “yes” vote on this bill as an express path to retirement from the House. Now they have all the power. What remains to be seen is if they are willing to defy the Emperor himself in an effort to express that power.
