Several months ago I shut down the comments sections of Gribbit’s Word. I did so because at that time there was no effective way to police these comments. That has now all changed.

I have deployed a couple of plugins for WordPress which allow me to control who has access to comments. I do this not because I wish to control speech, but rather I wish to control those who wish to control my site. Those on the left side of the spectrum who have a habit of hijacking comments and still others who would use a forum that I pay for in order to attack me claiming freedom of speech. NEWSFLASH If I have to pay for the privilege of speech on this forum, speech is no longer free.

If you have a desire to comment here that’s fine but there are a few little rules that you MUST adhere to. Commenters, you must…

1. provide a link to a website or blog that YOU OWN (group sites and diary blogs DO NOT QUALIFY);
2. be respectful;
3. keep your comments pithy;
4. confine your comments to the topic at hand;
5. refrain from personal attacks;
6. keep your comment PG rated;

All comments are held for moderation until the commenter has had at least one comment approved.

All comments are restricted to 1,500 characters in length (subject to change without notice). So use your characters wisely. Not enough? Too bad. Twitter is only 140 characters. Complain about it over there.

Posts older than 5 days are closed to comments.
