Putting Unemployment Numbers Into Prospective

In the back and forth over unemployment/underemployment numbers, we lose sight of the fact that some areas of the country are hurting more than others. Throwing off the true numbers are areas like Washington DC where the federal government is hiring but yet private sector jobs are almost non-existent.

I took a look at one state – my own – and specifically each county within that state to gain a prospective as to how the Obama Infestation and Uncle Ted[1] are handling the economy.

In Ohio, there are only 19 of the 88 counties that are below the national unemployment average. The county with the lowest unemployment numbers (as of December 2009) is Holmes County with an unemployment rate of 7.4%. In contrast, Holmes County had an unemployment rate of 5.9% in December of 2008.

Other Ohio Counties with unemployment numbers below the national average of 9.7%…

  • Licking County 9.6%
  • Hancock County 9.6%
  • Madison County 9.5%
  • Lorain County 9.5%
  • Warren County 9.3%
  • Fairfield County 9.3%
  • Union County 9.2%
  • Athens County 9.2%
  • Lake County 8.9%
  • Cuyahoga County 8.9%
  • Franklin County 8.8%
  • Medina County 8.2%
  • Mercer County 8.2%
  • Lawrence County 8.0%
  • Geauga County 7.9%
  • Delaware County 7.7%

Of the 88 Ohio counties, 18 of them were in excess of 14.0% unemployment as of December 2009. The county with the highest unemployment rate is Morgan County with 17.5%. This is an actual recorded unemployment number not an estimated underemployment number. In contrast, Morgan County had an unemployment rate of 12.8% in December of 2008.

Other Ohio counties above 14.0% in Ohio…

  • Highland County 17.3%
  • Ottawa County 17.3%
  • Pike County 16.7%
  • Clinton County 16.2%
  • Noble County 16.2%
  • Huron County 15.9%
  • Adams County 15.8%
  • Meigs County 15.8%
  • Williams County 14.9%
  • Carroll County 14.5%
  • Monroe County 14.3%
  • Perry County 14.3%
  • Fulton County 14.3%
  • Ashtabula County 14.2%
  • Vinton County 14.2%
  • Jefferson County 14.1%
  • Crawford County 14.0%

Of Ohio’s 88 counties, only 9 are below the state unemployment average of 10.9% and above the national average of 9.7% (as of December 2009). They are…

  • Summit County 10.8%
  • Portage County 10.7%
  • Greene County 10.6%
  • Auglaize County 10.6%
  • Clermont County 10.6%
  • Gallia County 10.4%
  • Belmont County 10.3%
  • Washington County 10.0%
  • Butler County 9.9%
  • Knox County 9.7%

This leaves 51 Ohio counties in excess of the nation’s unemployment average. There are 42 counties in excess of the 10.9% state average but below 14.0%. They are…

  • Henry County 13.9%
  • Trumbull County 13.8%
  • Scioto County 13.6%
  • Van Wert County 13.6%
  • Columbiana County 13.5%
  • Muskingum County 13.4%
  • Ashland County 13.1%
  • Coshocton County 13.1%
  • Fayette County 13.1%
  • Seneca County 13.0%
  • Richland County 13.0%
  • Ross County 13.0%

  • Harrison County 12.3%
  • Stark County 12.2%
  • Hardin County 12.2%
  • Hocking County 12.1%
  • Pickaway County 12.1%
  • Logan County 12.1%
  • Sandusky County 12.1%
  • Montgomery County 12.0%
  • Champaign County 11.9%
  • Morrow County 11.9%
  • Jackson County 11.7%
  • Darke County 11.7%
  • Allen County 11.6%
  • Tuscarawas County 11.4%
  • Marion County 11.2%
  • Clark County 11.1%
  • Wood County 11.1%
  • Putnam County 11.0%

Don’t get me wrong, before Obama took over, Ohio was no employment mecca. Our state has been shedding high-paying manufacturing jobs for decades and as a result has had to re-educate ourselves. An abundance of these new lost jobs are not manufacturing jobs. They are skilled jobs. How can anyone justify the federal government enticing a major high tech employer to move from Ohio to another state through the Stimulus bill? Not to China or Mexico. NCR is moving from Dayton, Ohio to Duluth, GA thanks to the American Robbery and Redistribution Act.

What is Obama’s answer to America’s job losses? Green Jobs.

In Spain the government encourage the building of “green jobs” industries and it has had disastrous effects. For every green job created, 2 were lost. Spain is next in line to collapse after Greece.

Here in Ohio we had one of those much touted Ethanol plants in Lima. It went bankrupt and closed 2 years ago. So much for green jobs.

As for Uncle Ted… He’s been right there with Obama chasing jobs out of our state and out of our country. Obama promised ‘Change’ in the 2008 election cycle and ‘Change’ is about to come. Ohio is going to resist becoming another DPRM* come November 4th and Uncle Ted will be in the unemployment line with the rest of the state.

Mrs. Gribbit and I live in Auglaize County. As of December 2009 our unemployment rate was 10.6%. According to ODJFS’s numbers, as of December 2009 Auglaize County had a workforce of 26,400 workers with 23,600 actually working and 2,800 residents looking for work. In November 2009 Auglaize County had an unemployment rate of 10.0% meaning the unemployment rate rose .6% during a month that the Obama Infestation claims indicates that the economy is improving based on a .3% decline in the national unemployment rate. In contrast, the unemployment rate for December 2008 for Auglaize County was 6.8%. In the event you’ve linked over from one of those non-thinking DRONE sites, that is an increase of 3.8% in 12 months. That ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ thing isn’t working out for rural Ohio.

In Montgomery County (Dayton) where we used to live, the unemployment picture is much more bleak. The County has 263,800 workers with 232,200 of them working and 31,600 jobless for an unemployment rate of 12.0%. In November the unemployment rate was 11.4%. So as the Emperor touts his economic recovery, cities like Dayton are still losing jobs.

In Dayton – Montgomery County’s largest city – only 59,400 workers out of a workforce of 68,400 were actually working leaving 9,000 workers without a job. Dayton saw a December unemployment rate of 13.2% following a November at 12.6%. By contrast, Dayton had a jobless rate of 9.5% in December of ‘08 with Montgomery County coming in at 8.5%.

So it is evident that the ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’ thing isn’t going so well in urban Ohio either. And oh, Montgomery County broke heavily for Obama in the ‘08 Presidential election.

Let us keep in mind that these numbers do not represent the number of Ohioans who have stopped looking for work or who have taken jobs for substandard wages (underemployed). The numbers being thrown around to represent these workers (nationally) are in the neighborhood of 18%. Judging on these numbers, it is my opinion that Barack Hussein Obama is a complete and utter failure. Likewise as an Ohio resident I can only characterize Uncle Ted’s job performance as negligent at best. At worst – criminal.

Ohio’s statewide numbers…

  • Labor Force – 5,883,500
  • Employment – 5,254,800
  • Unemployment – 628,700
  • December Unemployment rate – 10.7%
  • November Unemployment rate – 10.2%
  • December ‘08 Unemployment rate – 7.7%

[NOTE]

The data contained in this post originated from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Workforce Development Bureau of Labor Market Information in a report titled, “Civilian Labor Force Estimates for Counties & Cities with Population Over 50,000: December 2009″. This data does not include information concerning those employed by city, county, state, or federal governments and is NOT seasonally adjusted.

Obama’s Infatuation With Failure

It has occurred to me that the Emperor has an unhealthy infatuation with failure. Why do I say that you ask? He seems to favor European Socialism and every single item on his agenda follows the European model which we all can see is a complete and utter failure. Case in point: Greece.

Instead of running away from proven failure, Obama is rushing head-on into it. That is, unless the new found power of the minority and the American people find a way to stop him.

In Greece the national deficit is in excess of 12% of GDP. In the United States the federal budget deficit is nearing 10% of GDP. Excuse me but – DOESN’T ANYONE ELSE SEE A PROBLEM HERE?!?

In Greece the size of their national government encompasses nearly 30% of their labor force. Here in the States, the only sector of the economy that is growing is the public sector (the government). DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER – DANGER – DANGER. DANGER WILL ROBINSON …

So the major question is why? It is part of the plan. Destroy America as we know it and rebuild it into the unachievable socialist utopia that Progressives Liberals Progressives Populists have been attempting to “progress” toward for over a hundred years. Or make us subservient to a world governmental body. Either way, it isn’t good.

Ineptitude – The Obama Legacy

The Imperial mouthpieces sent out among the jackals of the Sunday talk shows, seem to have neglected to convene a little meeting prior to their appearances in order to coordinate the official lie. Normally they would probably not worry about such a meeting because the differing subject matter they would normally be discussing during their various appearances would be dealing with seemingly unrelated topics. However the Emperor has been sending forth his non-thinking minions to the Infestation’s official propaganda corps to bend the truth (see also: spin) about the same thing – the success of the American Robbery and Redistribution Act of 2009 (aka: The Porkulus).

The Emperor and his minions can’t seem to get together and decide how many jobs the Redistribution Act has “created or saved”. The Emperor’s moronic mouthpieces have brought forth three different numbers on three different talk shows on the same day; followed just three days later by the Emperor himself lying to a joint session of Congress spewing forth a completely different number. In my opinion, if they truly think the American people are buying their lies they are all fugitives from the booby hatch.

No one is being fooled. With that in mind, one must ask the question “why is it they continue with the charade?”

The answer is simple.

In the 1962 version of ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ Senator Iselin (James Gregory), after barking off various numbers of “card-carrying communists in the defense department” before the press, is attempting to get his wife (Angela Lansbury) to give him one simple number that he can remember so that he doesn’t look like a fool. A small argument ensues and Mrs. Iselin mentions that people aren’t asking “IF” there are any communists in the defense department, they are asking “HOW MANY” communists are in the defense department. In this example we see a perfect text-book case of smoke and mirrors played out before us in a fictional story. When you have no evidence of your position, arrange the argument so that certain aspects of your unproven position are assumed to be factual. In this way you avoid the conflict of proving your case.

Obama and his Infestation cannot prove a single job was either “saved or created”. So they get the public to focus on a number instead of arguing about whether or not the program was even successful at all.

The problem with Obama is that the public is developing a picture of his Infestation as a brood of ineptitude. No one seems to know what is going on including the Emperor. The Obama Infestation looks to the casual observer to be a rudderless ship aimlessly drifting as Obama and his crew focus on meaningless legislation that has no hope of achieving any of its goals. Legislation I might add that has no hope of passing on its merits.

As the private sector continues to lose jobs, the federal government is growing at a rate that no steroid can achieve. Steady injections of Obama-ism and its deficit spending is causing that pig to fatten up as the only jobs being “created or saved” are government sector jobs.

The mouthpieces all brag about “saving” teachers’ jobs or police jobs as if every single teacher and cop would have been pink slipped if the Redistribution Act hadn’t passed. Even if we were to assume they would have been, what is going to happen once the Redistribution Act grant money is exhausted? Will we see Redistribution Act II?!? Apparently as the Emperor has proposed another stimulus “jobs bill”.

Government cannot create or save anything. Government is the reason why the private sector is losing jobs. Over-regulation and mandates from the government make doing business in the United States an increasingly expensive operation. The Infestation pinheads cannot fathom the idea that those whom they have been demonizing for years are the very people who create jobs for us underlings. By taxing them into bankruptcy, the government is destroying job opportunities for the very class of people they give the illusion of working for. All we need now is another stimulus “jobs bill” to drive up the national unemployment numbers another 5% like the first one did.

With each new government spending fix, the economy gets worse. If our economy continues to tank, how is it we will ever make a dent in that nearly $13 Trillion national debt? Short answer: We Can’t!

Scenario: You just lost your job, you can’t pay your bills, now what do you do? Do you go to the bank and say, “hey, I need to borrow $1.9 Trillion to pay my bills?”

You’d be laughed out of the office. Why then do we continue to allow our government to spend beyond its means?

This President and his administration are nothing but a bunch of bumbling idiots. The legacy of the Obama Infestation I predict will be worse than the Carter Infestation. Compared to both of them, that total idiot Clinton looks brilliant.

Let’s all make a pact. The entire voting public of this nation must agree, NO MORE POLITICIANS WITH DOCTORATES. They may be book smart, but they are completely clueless in the real world. And that makes them dangerous.

Obama’s Promise to Make Pigs Fly

This week, the President and his Infestation began to speak of a second stimulus “jobs bill”. They’ve been instructed to not use the word stimulus but to use “jobs bill” instead according to an Infestation official in a television interview. If you are thinking, “yeah, it’s about time the Infestation addresses the space station level unemployment/under-employment numbers,” perhaps you need to take a few minutes and think about where the government gets all this money they are doling out.

First and foremost, the government doesn’t have any money. To insist that the government is using government money to fund something is ignorant to that fact. The government gets the money it wastes from “We The People” through the over-taxation of the employed. Government doesn’t create anything or provide a marketable skill for which it is compensated. Government is nothing more than a clearing house for pilfered money.

If you then think about the efficiency with with the federal government operates you must come to the conclusion that the feds manage money like a crack addict. For example – welfare programs. The government does not spend 100% of every dollar designated for helping the poor on the poor. It only spends about $.70 on the dollar. The other $.30 pays for the bureaucracy the government has in place to “redistribute” the nation’s wealth. Seeings how the government can only achieve D worthy work in this area, does it make sense to give them more money to waste? I mean a 70% success rate any student will tell you is almost failing.

As more and more people are forced onto the government dole due to the mismanagement of the economy by the President, his Infestation, and the pinheads in the majority in both houses of Congress, that system of “redistributing” what’s left of the nation’s wealth will only get less efficient. But then again, that is what Obama learned from his study of Cloward-Piven.

Remember their strategy was to overwhelm the system in order to create a crisis for which the only answer would be to implement draconian solutions such as socialism. That is why it is called the Cloward-Piven Strategy for Socialist Revolution. And Obama studied it.

His calls for a second stimulus “jobs bill” are just another phase in his plan to “fundamentally transform America”. He’s going to “transform” us from a nation of free peoples seeking for our own niche in society from which we can prosper into a society enslaved by an ever present, all knowing, all seeing, and all intrusive government which tells us what we will do as an occupation and how much wealth we can accumulate. Something tells me that Obama was cheering for “Big Brother” in George Orwell’s ‘1984′.

He boldly touts the “success” of his first stimulus package citing a phantom 2 million “created or saved” jobs. But where were they? Who knows? The Infestation sure doesn’t. Their own website recovery.gov lists allegedly “created or saved” jobs in Congressional districts that do not exist in zip codes that don’t exist either. If there is no such location, how then can there be a job “created or saved” there?

When Obama pushed for his stimulus package, he promised that without it unemployment “may go as high as 8%”. Here we are sitting at 10% unemployment (with many states way above 10%) after his stimulus package passed. If the President was right when he warned us it would go to 8% without his stimulus, had Congress not acted would unemployment have gotten this high? Many believe not. Many believe (and count me among them) that the President’s stimulus program made economic conditions worse.

And while we are talking about these lofty unemployment numbers, let us not lose sight of the fact that the number of unemployed/under-employed in this country is in excess of 17%. That’s 17% of our nation’s population either not working or working for a wage that is insufficient to pay the monthly bills. That is a crime.

Quoting Lewis Carroll –

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
“To talk of many things:
Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
And whether pigs have wings.”

The truth of the matter is that for all the President’s talk about rescuing this nation’s economy nothing could be further from his mind. He is not interested in rescuing this economy as-a-matter-of-fact he intends on damaging it further in his effort to bring about the dream of Cloward and Piven. Like the oysters in Lewis Carroll’s poem, America is being led to the feast.

“A loaf of bread,” the Walrus said,
“Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed–
Now if you’re ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed.”

“But not on us!” the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
“After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!”
“The night is fine,” the Walrus said.
“Do you admire the view?

“It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!”
The Carpenter said nothing but
“Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf–
I’ve had to ask you twice!”

“It seems a shame,” the Walrus said,
“To play them such a trick,
After we’ve brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!”
The Carpenter said nothing but
“The butter’s spread too thick!”

“I weep for you,” the Walrus said:
“I deeply sympathize.”
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

“O Oysters,” said the Carpenter,
“You’ve had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?’
But answer came there none–
And this was scarcely odd, because
They’d eaten every one. [1]

And we, my fellow peasants of the United Socialist States of Amerika, are the main course. That is once Obama achieves his goals.

If you believe that Obama is going to rescue this economy then be prepared for a shock. Because that promise my friend stinks of pigs aloft.

Before I close I’ll remind you of a very simple truth that I’ve written many many times before…

You cannot legislate universal health, but you can legislate universal sickness;
You cannot legislate universal prosperity; but you can legislate universal poverty;
You cannot legislate universal happiness; but you can legislate universal dispair.

And Obama is attempting to legislate all the above.

Economic Recovery Or Economic Ruin? What Is He Up To?

Everytime the Emperor opens his mouth these days, he’s spouting the virtues of his economic recovery plan. Problem is, he doesn’t want recovery. He needs economic collapse in order to implement his real agenda.

A few days ago I mentioned a plan for the economy laid out in the 1960’s which is finally coming to fruition now. It is called the Cloward-Piven Strategy for Socialist Revolution. In order to truly understand Barack Obama, you must first fully understand his influences.

Obama studied the Cloward-Piven Strategy and fully believes in it. He also studied, and even taught, Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals which he also fully believes in. Obama is the marriage of both the Cloward-Piven Strategy and Saul Alinsky’s Rules. Everything that he has attempted to do since January 20, 2009 is in fully accordance with both.

But what are they? Good question.

From DiscoverTheNetworks.org:

Inspired by the August 1965 riots in the black district of Watts in Los Angeles (which erupted after police had used batons to subdue a black man suspected of drunk driving), Cloward and Piven published an article titled “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty” in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation. Following its publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called “crisis strategy” or “Cloward-Piven Strategy,” as it came to be called. Many were eager to put it into effect.

In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when “the rest of society is afraid of them,” Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would “the rest of society” accept their demands.

The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state. Cloward-Piven’s early promoters cited radical organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration. “Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules,” Alinsky wrote in his 1972 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judaeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system’s failure to “live up” to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist “rule book” with a socialist one.

The authors noted that the number of Americans subsisting on welfare — about 8 million, at the time — probably represented less than half the number who were technically eligible for full benefits. They proposed a “massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls.” Cloward and Piven calculated that persuading even a fraction of potential welfare recipients to demand their entitlements would bankrupt the system. The result, they predicted, would be “a profound financial and political crisis” that would unleash “powerful forces … for major economic reform at the national level.”

Their article called for “cadres of aggressive organizers” to use “demonstrations to create a climate of militancy.” Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of “a federal program of income redistribution,” in the form of a guaranteed living income for all — working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act.

This was an example of what are commonly called Trojan Horse movements — mass movements whose outward purpose seems to be providing material help to the downtrodden, but whose real objective is to draft poor people into service as revolutionary foot soldiers; to mobilize poor people en masse to overwhelm government agencies with a flood of demands beyond the capacity of those agencies to meet. The flood of demands was calculated to break the budget, jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock, and bring the system crashing down. Fear, turmoil, violence and economic collapse would accompany such a breakdown — providing perfect conditions for fostering radical change. That was the theory.

Ask yourself, “what is happening right now? What if any of this is the Emperor attempting to do?” The truth is, all of it.

I want you to think back all the way to January 20, 2009. I know that is a stretch for some of you. Especially those linking here from DRONE sites. But try.

The national debt on the day that Barry took over was sitting at $10.6 Trillion. A shocking sum to say the least. However, now take a look at the national debt today. In just one year, Barack Obama, with the help of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, raised the national debt from $10.6 Trillion to $12.3 Trillion. To put this into context, when George W. Bush took office on January 20, 2001 the national debt was at $5.7 Trillion. Over 8 years in office the national debt increased $4.9 Trillion. In case you are keeping score that is an average of $600 Billion per year.

Barack Obama has raised the national debt $1.7 Trillion in just one year. The Senate is looking to raise the debt ceiling another $1.9 Trillion which the White House is projecting will last the government until June 2011. If that actually lasts out the year they’ll be lucky.

At the rate that Barry and this Congress is spending money, by the time Obama leaves office, if left unchecked, the national debt will be $17.8 Trillion in just 4 years. Bush added $4.9 Trillion over 8 years. Obama is projected to add $7.2 Trillion in half that time.

So what is he spending money on? Political payoffs and expanding the welfare class.

His agenda is destroying the ability for the private sector to conduct business. It is leading to massive unemployment levels which chases many from the middle class onto the government dole. Seems that he is attempting to collapse the economic system a la Cloward-Piven through expansion of the Nanny State.

Every time he proposes something to bring about economic recovery, he is actually proposing measures that would have the opposite effect. Ask yourself, what sense does it make to raise taxes during a recession? The short answer is – it doesn’t. But he is hell bent on allowing the Bush tax cuts which have kept this country from plummeting into a full blow depression to expire. In that one non-action, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid will be eliminating the 10% tax bracket effectively giving those at the bottom of the income ladder a 50% increase in their taxes. If he is willing to do that to the lowest of income earners, what then is he willing to do to those above the current 10% bracket?

From top to bottom, allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire will have dire consequences for this country economically. Why? Cloward-Piven.

Saul Alinsky said the ends justify the means. If his means are this dastardly, what then are the ends toward which he is directing his means? Full blown Socialism.

“Economic recovery or economic ruin? What is he up to?” Economic ruin. No doubt about it.

Brown Defeats Coakley All Eyes Now On White House, Senate, and House

Scott Brown defeated Martha Coakley by a margin of 5 percentage points in a state where Republicans are out-numbered 3:1 by Democrats. This should have the Emperor having nightmares beginning tonight.

Obama’s agenda is dead. That is unless he and his cohorts Pelosi and Reid begin utilizing political end-runs around the democratic process. His Infestation announced last week that their agenda for 2010 was Immigration Reform. I think that it is pretty safe to say that agenda is now off the table. Cap and Tax failed to come to a vote on the floor of the Senate. That too is dead on the table. But Death Care… That is where the Emperor, Pelosi, and Reid could stick it to the American people and use political shenannigans to pass the progressive movement’s biggest incursion into the private lives of normal every-day American citizens’ lives.

Frank Luntz conducted a focus group of Massachusetts voters that did not include a single registered Republican. Most of the group in fact voted for Coakley. But as results were streaming in indicating that Brown was going to prevail, the overwhelming majority of those in the focus group advocated halting everything in the Senate until Brown is seated. A message echoed by Virginia Democrat Senator Jim Webb.

From the Politico

In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated. - Senator Jim Webb (D VA) in a statement

That focus group also pointed out a couple of keys as to why Massachusetts voters failed to deliver for Coakley. The Death Care bill was the most prominent. They did not like Congress and the Emperor taking action on this bill when it is clearly not the will of the people. Secondly, those in the focus group who voted for Brown also cited the out of control spending and growth of government.

Now that Senator Elect Scott Brown has been elected and he is duly qualified to serve as United States Senator, it is imperative that Paul Kirk be prohibited from casting any additional votes in the Senate. As of right now, he is no longer a Senator. And even if they do try to rush through a vote on some sort of compromise, I doubt Senator Lieberman would vote for cloture so – that would be a useless effort.

Other political games being talked about at the White House is budget reconciliation OR getting the House to pass the Senate bill as is. Somehow I doubt the House is willing to play ball on that one.

As the Politico is also reporting…

But several House members said Tuesday night that they had no interest in pursuing the most likely scenario for moving ahead with a bill — approving the already-passed Senate version of health reform in the House – and some said President Barack Obama should step back and start over.

Remember that the House version only passed with 220 votes. Forcing the Senate bill at this point would likely fall short of the required 218 for passage.

In other words, the Emperor’s agenda is now officially dead. No Death Care bill. No Cap and Tax. No Immigration bill. It is now the season of bipartisanship or nothing for Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. Reid is done come November 4th and Pelosi will likely lose control of the House. Obama is going to be awful lonely unless he begins to learn how to get along with the minority. Because today’s minority will likely be next year’s majority and I don’t see Obama learning to govern from the center as Clinton did after the 1994 midterms.

He’ll need to get used to the words – Lame and Duck.

Kasich Announces Running Mate

January 15, 2010 Announcements., Ohio Politics, Opinion, Taxes, The Economy Comments Off

Former United States Congressman and Ohio Gubernatorial candidate Republican John Kasich announced his pick for the next Lt. Governor of Ohio, Auditor of State Mary Taylor.

From the John Kasich for Governor website Auditor Taylor writes

It truly is a new day in Ohio and I am excited to join John Kasich as we embark on a mission to transform state government as we know it.

The failed policies of the past three years have resulted in a 10.6 percent unemployment rate and the loss of 330,000 jobs. Ohio can’t take it anymore.

John Kasich and I will use our experience and accomplishments to reinvent state government. We will work together to bring jobs back to Ohio because we know that if government gets out of our way, Ohioans will prosper.
I am excited about this winning ticket and the more John and I talk and discuss the important issues facing our state, the more I realize how similar our record of leadership and accomplishments really is and how much this partnership truly makes sense.

I hope you will join us as we spend the next several months outlining our plans to establish an environment conducive for job growth and prosperity for all Ohioans.

Mary Taylor tried to warn Uncle Ted that he was facing a hole that he couldn’t spend his way out of but he wouldn’t listen. Now Mary is joining John Kasich in building a team that will not only bring Ohio out of that hole but create a business environment that will attract new businesses to the Buckeye State.

Our businesses are leaving us at an alarming rate. Why? Because of the aggressive tax system in place in Ohio. Kasich and Taylor want to eliminate the estate tax (6%) and phase out the income tax. These efforts along with other pro-business initiatives will create an environment that people want to live and work in. And if the costs of business go down, jobs will come back.

Obamacare In Danger

Those in favor of the government takeover of the health care industry rejoiced when Sen. Ben Nelson committed his vote for cloture as if Obamacare were a done deal. Well – not so fast.

In the Senate, Obamacare is poised to either pass with a margin of zero or it will fail by a few votes. As House and Senate Democrats meet with the White House to negotiate the language of the final bill, Senators Lieberman and Lincoln and others are watching to see what changes are produced by those negotiations. The language that passed the Senate bill appears to be the only language that is worthy of some Democrat votes. Almost any deviation from the Senate bill might kill the whole deal.

So I say to the Dems negotiating in Washington…

Take it to the limit. Make the final bill everything the Liberals want. Then it will be sure to fail in the Senate.

I’m betting that 60 votes will not exist for Cloture on the Conference Report. How are you wagering?

Keep in mind a few very real truths. Obamacare is already forcing the retirement of 2 Democrat Senators, many more are in danger of losing their re-election bids, 1 House member so far has defected to the Republican Party, and it is looking like a blood bath is in the future come November. Democrats are definitely showing that they are incapable of governing.

Unemployment Down But Is That Good News or No News?

I’ve been meaning to comment on November’s unemployment numbers since their release but have been pulled in several other directions and my blogging efforts are the casualty. That said, here are my thoughts on the massive recovery in the job sector…

First off, and this may be news to all the pinheads who believe the Infestation’s estimations of the nation’s unemployed, a .2% drop in new jobless claims in November does not a recovery make. Let’s first take a look at what month we are talking about – November. What happens in November Class? Anybody? Short answer – seasonal hiring.

That’s right campers, that miraculous .2% tumble in new jobless claims can in all likelihood be attributed to seasonal hiring in the retail sector. Come January, I see a massive jump in new jobless claims as those who are currently taking part-time retail work to put presents under the tree for their kids suddenly find themselves again looking for work.

Next, let us not forget that the numbers used to gauge the nation’s unemployed are NEW Jobless Claims as filed in the various states. It does not count those who are already in the system. It also does not count those who take part-time (or seasonal) work or other menial jobs for less pay than that which they were receiving in their former positions. This is called – mark this down libtards, it is a word that you have obviously never heard of – underemployed. The underemployment rate in this country is estimated to be between 17 and 18 percent. A disastrous number if the average American Lemming were to ever take the time to understand.

Since the beginning of this recession an estimated 7 million jobs have been lost. Approximately 4 million of those jobs have been lost since Emperor Barry took command. Unemployment has more than doubled under his watch as the federal budget deficit has tripled. The government is spending like crazy and making fictitious claims of “saving” jobs. Now the Turd-in-Chief wants to spend nearly $200 Billion more under the guise of creating jobs?!? It is time someone cut up Mr. Obama’s National Debt Credit Card.

There is one major reason why employers are not hiring right now and it is a concept that libtards cannot understand if you presented them with full color animated illustrations. Uncertainty.

With a certainty of a massive tax increase as the Bush tax cuts sunset combined with the uncertainty over health care reform, the lack of credit being extended to small and medium sized businesses, and a daily barrage of legislative proposals designed to crater the market economy of the United States, employers are apprehensive about hiring anyone at this point.

The word tax means to impede. Taxes are an impediment to the private sector. As tax rates increase, the number of jobs decrease. As jobs evaporate, government revenues evaporate as well. The liberal answer to lower government revenue is to raise tax rates which in turn eliminates additional jobs.

It is a mistake to believe that doubling down on the mistakes which create an atmosphere in which fewer people support the masses will improve the situation. As fewer and fewer people are contributing to the government through taxes on income, the less able the government is going to be to support the dependency state which they have created for the rest of the population.

Try as they may to shift the blame for the current economic conditions in this country to the Bush Administration, this President and his Administration are responsible for this economy. The President said that if Congress did not pass his $787 billion Porkulus package unemployment would rise over 8%. They passed it, he signed it, and unemployment hit a 26 year high of 10.2% anyway. Obama owns this recession so do not let them get away with their attempts to pawn off their responsibility. Remember, the worse the unemployment rate got under the Bush Administration was 6.5% (in 2008).

The 10% unemployment numbers for November are still extremely bad. Don’t be fooled into thinking this Infestation has finally gotten their collective heads out of their proverbial backsides because new jobless claims dropped an anemic .2%.

.2% of 7 million unemployed is a relatively insignificant number.

Putting Unemployment Numbers Into Prospective

February 15, 2010

In the back and forth over unemployment/underemployment numbers, we lose sight of the fact that some areas of the country are hurting more than others. Throwing off the true numbers are areas like Washington DC where the federal government is hiring but yet private sector jobs are almost non-existent.

Obama’s Infatuation With Failure

February 11, 2010

It has occurred to me that the Emperor has an unhealthy infatuation with failure. Why do I say that you ask? He seems to favor European Socialism and every single item on his agenda follows the European model which we all can see is a complete and utter failure. Case in point: Greece.
Instead of running [...]
