Bye Bye Byah Hello Party Stooge (and failure)

February 17, 2010 Democrat Incompetence, Elections, News, Opinion Comments Off

Monday Senator Evan Byah announced that he will not be seeking a third term and with that announcement put the Indiana Democrat Party in a position to literally appoint a nominee. By not having a backup plan, the Indiana Democrat Party was left with an unknown candidate WHO had not secured enough signatures by Tuesday’s noon deadline to be placed on the ballot. This failure will allow the state Party to appoint a nominee bypassing the Democrat voters of Indiana. Rest assured, the Party will be appointing a political hack – a yes man who will go along with whatever moronic issue the President and the eventual Democrat Leader in the Senate wishes.

With this in mind I have some free advice to whomever the Party asks to be their nominee. Don’t take it. You are being set up for failure.

The Democrats are the incumbent party regardless of whether or not the candidate is the current office holder. The 2010 mid-terms will be as much an anti-incumbent party year as an anti-incumbent year. Byah had a 20 point lead over Coats on Monday. He had $13 million in the bank. And although his departure may be a precursor to some other political ambition, it is leaving his party set for a defeat where it should have had a solid victory. Whoever the Dems run for his seat is sure to lose at this point. Byah’s saving grace was his willingness to step on Harry Reid’s toes. A political stooge will not have that same saving grace and the voters of Indiana recognize that.

Putting Tuesday Into Context – GOP Are You Listening?

Scott Brown’s victory is not only historic in that a Republican was elected to an office from a State that hasn’t been won by a Republican since 1973. It is even more historic on HOW he did it. The Republican Party as a whole needs to take a careful look at HOW Brown won. Duplicating the Brown campaign is essential to complete victory in November 2010.

Scott Brown ran on a platform of the Tea Party movement. Plain and simple. He ran an issues based campaign refraining from personal attacks. Is it permissible for a candidate to attack their opponent on an issue? Of course. But leave families out.

Massachusetts voters rejected the personal attacks of the Coakley campaign and the Emperor’s attacks on his pickup truck. Massachusetts voters recognize that the out of control spending of Washington is the problem. Massachusetts voters recognize that the Emperor’s Death Care bill would balloon the federal budget even more than he and his minions in Congress were able to do with the Porkulus, Omnibus, and Cash-for-Clunkers. Massachusetts voters recognize that the federal budget deficit and out of control national debt and unfunded liabilities are a problem that the people of this nation can no longer live with. So they did now what the nation is preparing to do in November. And thank Almighty GOD they did.

The Tea Parties opposition is rooted in this Infestation’s fiscal irresponsibility. Should Republicans return to the same fiscal irresponsible ways of the Bush era, they too will be targets of public angst.

We’ve had a taste of the Progressive Movement and we (collectively) do not like it.

The Obama Infestation clearified the differences between Conservatives and liberals (Progressives). If the GOP runs all of its races on Conservative Principles (Tea Party Principles), the GOP will win. That is the lesson of the Brown victory. Should the GOP deviate from the Brown plan – failure is inevitable and we will slip further toward Progressive Socialism.

The people of this nation want true economic recovery and that does not mean additional federal spending that only truly translates into political payoffs. The people of this nation understand that true economic recovery can only happen when the government gets out of the way and allow the economy to recover on its own. More taxes cannot accomplish this. The economy is more important to the People than universal health care but the leftists do not understand this truth.

I have said many times…

You cannot legislate universal health, but you can legislate universal sickness.
You cannot legislate universal prosperity, but you can legislate universal poverty.
You cannot legislate universal happiness, but you can legislate universal despair.

The Obama Infestation and Pelosi/Reid Politburo are attempting to legislate universal sickness, universal poverty, and universal despair a la the Cloward-Piven Strategy for Socialist Revolution. And you all now know this.

As for the calls for Brown to consider a 2012 Presidential run? SHUT UP!

We are now suffering under a President who, once elected to the US Senate, shifted his focus to a Presidential run. What has that gotten us?

Emperor Barry ran for President and won only because no one knew who the hell he was. If we knew then what we know now, I doubt he would have even gained his Party’s nomination.

Brown has yet to speak on the floor of the Senate. He hasn’t even cast a vote yet. For the love of Pete, he hasn’t even been sworn in. Can we please refrain from pushing the man into something that he may not wish on his worst enemy?

Let him concentrate on doing the things that he has promised to achieve in the Senate.

Death Care Bill On Life Support?

Both Congressional bodies passed bills independent of each other that include two different and massively expensive approaches on how to implement the President’s Death Care plan. With only gaining 1 Republican vote in the House and no Republican support in the Senate, the Death Care bill is a completely Democrat show. The hold-up with the bill is within the Democrat Party. It is the Dems that can’t reconcile on the best way to implement a bill the Republicans cannot block on their own.

It goes without saying that any significant deviation from the Senate bill will result in a deadlock in the Senate. A cloture vote will not happen. Without a significant deviation from the Senate bill, the egomaniacs in the House leadership will not be able to muster the required 218 votes for passage; especially as more and more House members see in this bill the road to early retirement.

There have already been several announcements declaring retirement in lieu of re-election efforts. One Congressman, Rep. Parker Griffith (AL-5), has even left the Democrat Party and is now aligning himself with the GOP. Still more are facing almost certain defeat on November 4th because of their support of massive spending bills in a recession that seems only to be getting deeper.

Voters see this as a political quagmire. The die hard leftists in the House won’t vote on any bill not including a public option, whereas the Senate can’t achieve cloture on anything that includes a public option. There are major differences in each bill on how to fund them. The Senate bill would tax so-called “Cadillac” health plans at a rate of 40% which would be a blow to the middle class. Many union members have these so-called “Cadillac” plans. House members see this as an affront to their political base.

The House bill, on the other hand, proposes to pay for itself by taxing millionaires. This sentiment is popular with the dregs of society who don’t realize that this is the very group of people who create jobs…but then again most of the public that supports this fiasco don’t want to work to begin with.

Both bills require health coverage of all Americans and include a system of fines for not carrying coverage. This issue has prompted many to discuss the Constitutional implications of the bills. Let us not forget this: nowhere in the Constitution is the federal government granted the responsibility of overseeing the health care industry. The mere discussion of these bills in itself is a violation of the 10th Amendment.

Some in the House are claiming, as Rep. Anthony Weiner (D NY-9) has, that negotiating with the Senate is like negotiating with a gun to their heads. Good. I love the in-fighting. It gives me hope that this POS bill will ultimately fail.

Another problem for the Emperor is that the further we get into 2010, many House members will be less willing to stick their necks out for this plan. This is especially true if the possibility of failure in the Senate exists. If House members stick their necks out and Reid fails to get the 60 votes required for cloture, the Death Care bill will die on the table and flat-line the careers of House members who support it. Because if it should die on the table in the Senate, House members who supported the bill in the House will have sacrificed their political careers for nothing. Make no mistake, support of the Death Care bill will mean the death of many a political career.

Compounding the problems for the Emperor is the fact that the Secretary of State of Massachusetts cannot stall certification of Scott Brown’s victory (assuming he wins next Tuesday) indefinitely. If the House and Senate are going to act, they will need to act quickly or Brown’s ‘NO’ vote will definitely table the bill in the Senate no matter what they come up with.

The best thing for this nation is for them to do nothing at this point. With this Congress, they are doing their best work when they are on recess. It appears to me that unless they get this done now, it won’t get done and a lame duck session of Congress will begin early. If this should happen, this Congress will be hitting their stride.

How Safe Are We? Really?

Since the 2006 midterm elections, the leftist political hacks of the Democrat Party made it their goal to do whatever necessary to grab control of the nation from Republicans. This involved a massive campaign that actually began with the news media. It is no secret that the media has been in the pocket of the Democrats for decades. Objectivity went out the window when Walter Cronkite made his famous declaration that the war in Vietnam was lost in 1968.

The American public began to have their opinions about the Bush Administration altered by the news media in 2003 when the bodies of American soldiers who just captured the entire nation of Iraq began to come home. Once the war shifted from a military on military operation to an insurgency suppression mission, the bodies began to pile up and the American public’s stomach for war had turned. The news media began to beat a steady anti-war, anti-Bush drumbeat that culminated in Democrat victories in 2006 and 2008. Their only real battle cry to win popular support? We aren’t Bush.

Well they certainly aren’t Bush. Bush for all his faults did do something right. After we were attacked on September 11, 2001 he took the fight to the enemy. He picked the battlefield and our troops were the only Americans in harm’s way. Our honorable troops. The best trained and best equipped fighting force this planet has ever seen kept us safe at home by confronting the enemy on soil that he claims is his. And because of this, no successful attacks on US soil were able to be carried out.

Fast forward to 2008. Barack Hussein Obama ran on a platform of fancy rhetoric and platitudes that boiled down to one simple message. “I’m not Bush.” Due to the American public’s fatigue of the the Bush Administration largely due to the aforementioned drum beating of the liberal press that the Bush Administration didn’t seem to wish to counter, Barack Hussein Obama won the election and the Democrat Party gain a larger majority in both the House and Senate after having a 2-year majority where nothing got done.

The young new inexperience President decided that a naive apologetic approach was a way to subdue the world’s anti-American sentiment. He reach out with olive branch diplomacy* which only resulted in the President of Iran laughing at his gesture. Attacks against US interests abroad increased and the situation in Afghanistan worsened. Worst of all, 3 separate attacks have been either attempted or carried out on US soil in 2009 alone.

Say what you want about George W. Bush, but his policies did keep us safe for nearly 8 years. Those of us on the right have our own issues with Bush’s brand of social liberalism and fiscal irresponsibility but on terrorism, he knew what to do. The boy President (and aspiring Emperor of the World) hasn’t a clue. We see this when his Infestation makes statements that they later have to retract because he himself says, “we screwed up.”

Many are calling for heads to roll and to be honest, a few should. But not solely due to the failures of the past couple of weeks. Some of these characters are in positions that they are ill-equipped to handle. Including the President himself.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is a complete and utter disaster as head of Homeland Security. Early in this Infestation she made declarations about the war on terrorism that a 5-year old child would call naive. The worst of which was re-naming terrorist attacks “man made disasters”. What?!? If anything is a “man made disaster” it is the Department of Homeland Security under this President and Janet Napolitano.

Another example of her incompetence is declaring that returning veterans and those who oppose the socialist agenda of this President to be domestic terrorists giving the illusion that if you oppose this socialist take over of our country you are worse than those who fly planes into skyscrapers. I’m sorry Janet, but that level of incompetence is what led to the death of an Army Recruiter in Little Rock, AR and the deaths of 13 people at Fr. Hood.

Should heads roll? Damn skippy! Let’s first start with Napolitano. How about Hillary Clinton? The State Department under her watch issued a visa to the panty bomber. How about Leon Penetta? The CIA under his watch failed to identify this guy. What about Michael Leiter who was skiing? If he must go so should Obama. After-all, Leiter didn’t do anything that the President wasn’t doing.

After the incident, Obama played 3 rounds of golf and didn’t say anything about it for 3 days. Talk about failure to perform the duties for which you were elected. Problem is, if Obama goes, we get stuck with that insanely ignorant Joe Biden. A man that couldn’t even win his own state’s primary. Do you think the people of Delaware know something about Big Mouth Joe?

So how safe are we? Under this President, we aren’t. We have in excess of 5,000 miles of largely unguarded boarder. The Infestation is more interested in monitoring Glenn Beck than Islamic Terrorists. Every time this Infestation makes explanations about what happened, they reveal more weaknesses in our system to our enemies.

Others that need to go…

Tim Geithner. How does a tax cheat get to become the head of the Fed in New York let alone Treasury Secretary?
Eric Holder. Anyone who would treat illegal enemy combatants as if they were defendants in a criminal proceeding is a fraud.

What about some in Congress?

Charlie Rangle. Again, how does a tax cheat end up writing tax law?
Christopher Dodd. Countrywide and connections with AIG not to mention an incident involving his best buddy Teddy Kennedy and a “waitress sandwich”? Should we wait for his retirement? He should be run out of the country on a rail.

I could go on but I’m approaching 1,000 words now. But I have 2 final questions before I go.

You should all ask yourselves…

Should heads roll? If so, whose and why?

Reid: Kowtow Or I’ll Eliminate You from the Legislative Process

Harry ‘the human sleeping pill” Reid is using political threats in an attempt to peel off RINO support for the massive socialist agenda of the Democrats – namely the Obama Budget, Universal Health Care, and Cap-And-Trade legislation. That’s the party of the working man for you, eliminate the minority in order to pass totalitarian legislation. But hell, you voted for it.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is holding the option of using a legislative maneuver to create not only a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s health care system but also a controversial cap and trade energy program, a move that could torpedo bipartisanship.

The maneuver, known as “reconciliation,” protects legislation to which it’s attached from a Senate filibuster. Republicans, in their deep minority status, are in an uproar over the possibility that they will be all but eliminated from the legislative process. SOURCE

The 2006 and 2008 gains made by Congress are even more damaging than electing our new Dictator-in-Chief. By electing Democrats to such huge majorities in the House and Senate, the Republican Minority has virtually no ability to stop harmful legislation from passing. Hence the Porkulus, or as I have affectionately named it – The Democrat Lard Act of 2009.

Any legislation which the majority knows it cannot get any Republican defections to support, can be labeled “Reconciliation” and bypass the rules of cloture. For a party who brought the use of cloture rules during the years of Republican control to an art-form, it seems a bit hypocritical of the current majority to abandon the much touted “rights of the minority” battle-cry that they employed when they were the minority.

But Republicans are not alone in their opposition. A sizable number of Democrats have protested the move; first and foremost, Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, D-N.D., who excluded it from his committee’s budget passed Thursday.

So concerned about the possibility of it being used, Sens. Robert Byrd, D-W.V., and Mike Johnanns, R-Neb., sent a letter of strong protest to the majority leader.

As opponents of proposed cap and trade measures, Byrd, the Senate’s most senior member and lead watchdog of Senate rules and decorum, and Johanns told Reid, “Enactment of a cap-and-trade regime is likely to influence nearly every feature of the U.S. economy.

“Legislation so far-reaching should be fully vetted and given appropriate time for debate, something the budget reconciliation process does not allow. Using this procedure would circumvent normal Senate practice and would be inconsistent with the Obama dministration’s stated goals of bipartisanship, cooperation, and openness,” they wrote.

Conrad and Byrd are not the only Senate Democrats opposed to using reconciliation. Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., said he is prepared to vote against the final budget if it returns from House-Senate negotiations with the restriction.

Nelson is part of a group of 15 moderate Democrats concerned about levels of spending and growing deficits. They are set to meet Tuesday to discuss how to move forward on the budget.

Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., top Republican on the Budget Committee, said Wednesday that reconciliation is not always a bad thing. He supported it when President Bill Clinton wanted tax increases to pay down the debt. But Gregg draws the line at creating major changes in environment and health care laws.

“When you are taking the entire health system of the United States, restructuring it, changing it fundamentally, moving it to the left significantly, basically nationalizing it for all intents and purposes … without any opportunity for changes on the floor of the Senate, well, you might as well not have a Senate. You might as well just have a House of Representatives. It totally undermines the purposes of the two branches of government,” Gregg told FOX News. SOURCE

It will take a minimum of 10 Democrat Senators to reject legislation that Reid successfully labels “Reconciliation”. Should only 9 vote with Republicans to reject the legislation, Reid can call upon Big Mouth Joe to cast his vote in order to break the tie. Anyone besides me smell the foul odor of abuse coming from the Majority Leader’s office?

If permitted to abuse the rules governing “Reconciliation”, Reid’s majority is abandoning Democratic principles and permitting the death of the Republic. A dangerous proposition to say the least. When Sen. Robert C. Byrd sides with the GOP you KNOW there has got to be something rotten in Reid’s office. And its name is Harry Reid.

What Party?

Illinois Governor Arrested on Corruption Charges

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff were arrested in Chicago Tuesday on two counts each of corruption charges relating to trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested Tuesday morning in Chicago on two counts each of federal corruption charges stemming from allegations Blagojevich was trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.

The arrest is part of a three-year probe of “pay-to-play politics” in the governor’s administration. The criminal complaint by the FBI says each man was arrested on two charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.

The charges also relate to allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with previously convicted defendants and Obama associates Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others to arrange financial benefits in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.

Blagojevich and Harris will have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court Tuesday.

A statement by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Robert Grant said Blagojevich and Harris “allegedly conspired to sell U.S. Senate appointment, engaged in pay-to-play schemes and threatened to withhold state assistance to Tribune Company for Wrigley Field to induce purge of newspaper editorial writers.”

“The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering,” Fitzgerald said in a statement.

“Blagojevich put a for sale sign on the naming of a United States Senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism,” he added.

Grant noted that Blagojevich was elected in 2002 after Illinois Gov. George Ryan retired in the face of federal corruption charges. He was convicted and sentenced in 2006 to six and a half years in prison.

“Many, including myself, thought that the recent conviction of a former governor would usher in a new era of honesty and reform in Illinois politics. Clearly, the charges announced today reveal that the office of the Governor has become nothing more than a vehicle for self-enrichment, unrestricted by party affiliation and taking Illinois politics to a new low,” Grant said.

Federal authorities were permitted by a judge to record the governor secretly before the November election after raising concerns that a replacement for Obama would be tainted.

Fitzgerald’s office said the 76-page FBI affidavit alleges that Blagojevich was taped conspiring to sell or trade Obama’s vacated U.S. Senate seat for financial and other personal benefits for himself and his wife, including an annual salary of $250,000-$300,000 at a nonprofit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions.

They also allege Blagojevich is heard on tape demanding a corporate board seat for his wife worth as much as $150,000 a year; promises of campaign funds, including cash up front; and a Cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself.

The Chicago Tribune was first to report the arrests. Informed Monday of the wiretap, Blagojevich told reporters that his discussions were “always lawful” and he defended a close confidant, John Wyma, who turned on him. Wyma as “an honest person who’s conducted himself in an honest way,” Blagojevich said.

“I should say if anybody wants to tape my conversations, go right ahead, feel free to do it,” he said.

However, the Tribune was also named in the affidavit because tapes allegedly play Blagojevich directing Harris to inform the newspaper’s owners and advisers that “state financial assistance would be withheld unless members of the Chicago Tribune’s editorial board were fired, primarily because Blagojevich viewed them as driving discussion of his possible impeachment.”

The Tribune Company, which declared bankruptcy on Monday, owns the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Cubs, and had explored the possibility of obtaining assistance from the Illinois Finance Authority as part of the effort to sell the Cubs and finance the sale of Wrigley Field.

Conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. Solicitation of bribery carries a maximum of 10 years in prison. Both carry a maximum fine of $250,000.

Isn’t it reassuring that our new President comes from the most corrupt party, from the most corrupt state, and the most corrupt city in this nation?

CPUSA’s Webb: A Springtime of Possibility

During the campaign I, as well as my colleagues on the right side of the blogosphere, warned you that the election of Barry O would usher in the United Socialist States of Amerika. Obama even confirmed this warning himself in his statements about income redistribution to “Joe the Plumber”. According to Communist Party Chief Sam Webb, we were right and Obama is going to make good on the only promise that he intends to keep.

From CPUSA:

“… in electing Barack Obama and larger Democratic Party majorities in Congress, the American people have taken the first and absolutely necessary step in the direction of building a more just society. We are not on the threshold of socialism for sure, but it is easy to see the further congealing of a growing majority that will realign politics, not incrementally and momentarily, but decisively and enduringly in the direction of economic justice, equality and peace.”

Webb isn’t saying that Socialism is a done deal with the election of Obama, however, I am saying it.

I said the day after the election that the electorate of this country disgusts me and I stand by that statement. Everyone who voted for that turd is responsible for the current free-fall of the Dow and the economic turmoil which we are about to enter.

I will admit, that the Bush Administration too is to blame for the downward slide in the economy. BUT, more importantly the American people. YOU had the opportunity to vote for policies that would allow the economy to recover and you chose to vote for socialism instead.

We warned you repeatedly about what an Obama Presidency would mean. It would mean Sam Webb’s wet dreams of an Amerikan Socialist State would become reality. Get ready for income redistribution because you voted for it.

SOCIALISM (according to Merriam-Webster):

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

See Also – Barrack Hussein Obama

Obama’s statement to “Joe the Plumber” that he wants to “spread the wealth around” is in conforming to his Marxist upbringing. His grandparents moved about the country seeking communist thought and raised their daughter (Obama’s mother) as a communist. But yet, Barry O denies that he’s a Marxist/Socialist/Communist. How can that be?

From The Normative View of Marxian Theory on Income Distribution under Socialism:

The original Marxian view on distributive justice is very far from crude egalitarianism. Marx and Engels never argued for absolutely equal incomes of all people, although they did believe that the capitalist distribution of income is too unequal and unjust and must therefore be replaced by a new socialist or communist form of distribution. The best known reference for Marx’s own view on income distribution under socialism and communism can be found in his ‘Critique of the Gotha Program’. There he stated that under socialism, which he defined as a lower stage of communist society, people should be rewarded according to their work or contribution to society, while in the second stage or ‘full communism’ people should be rewarded according to their needs. Neither of these principles requires a full equality of incomes.

If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and smells like a duck, it’s a duck. If it looks like a Marxist, sounds like a Marxist… you get the picture.

Sam Webb has a lot to be hopeful about. His fantasies about a Communist Amerika are about to be put into motion thanks to the man with the middle name Hussein. His thoughts on the CPUSA’s contribution to making this happen?

From the CPUSA:

Our role, as I have tried to say, is to be part of the struggles going forward – beginning with attending the inauguration and encouraging others to do the same. It’s going to be a grand event and a public expression of support for Obama and a mass expression for change.

Let me finish by saying that it sure feels good to be on the winning side. I’m sure everyone feels the same way. At the same time, because of this historic victory, we – and the broader movement that we are a part of – have our work cut out for us in the coming years. It’s a big challenge, but we have met other challenges. So let’s go out there and do it with a sense of confidence that the best days for our country lay ahead of us. Yes we can! Si Se Puede! Thank you.

Translation – Perpetuate the vague ‘Change’ mantra when Obama has shown in recent days that the only ‘change’ that he represents is that he has an uncanny ability to ‘change’ his mind faster than a Broadway costume change.

“Yes We Can” in all of its linguistic forms is now the mantra of the huddled masses who refuse to better themselves and are relying on Obama to equal the playing field. What these incredibly moronic simpletons (like Webb) don’t realize is the fact that no one’s lives will be improved. All socialism and its big brother communism accomplishes is the degrading of the standard of living of those who currently live better. It makes rich people poor not the other way around.

You cannot improve the standard when you reward failure and punish success. The former Soviet Union became an economy wrought with apathy. Craftsmanship was unheard of and standards of living bottomed out. Why should I work harder if I’m going to receive no greater reward for the work? Income redistribution has a negative affect on everyone but knowledge of this fact hasn’t stopped the idiots who have been advocating a larger step toward socialism from advocating it since the New Deal.

So all of you “Yes We Can” idiots out there be prepared for economic hardship being redistributed. Instead of incomes being bettered from the top down, Obama promises mass poverty from the bottom up. The worst part of this sordid tale is the fact that it wasn’t forced upon us by some radical “revolutionary’ uprising. The electorate of this nation actually voted for it.

Mel Brooks produced 2 movies and a musical called ‘The Producers’ in which exists a fictional play called ‘Springtime for Hitler’. Well folks, prepare for ‘Springtime for Stalin Obama’.

Is Biden Out? The Thomas Eagleton Affair Part II

Internet rumors abound with stories of Big Mouth Joe’s impending departure from the Obama campaign soon after the Vice Presidential debate with Gov. Sarah Palin. Part of this I think is wishful thinking on the part of Hillary backers who are clinging to the hope that she’ll be named as Big Mouth Joe’s replacement. The other part is pure rumor.

The rumor is that after the debate Joe will render a public resignation citing health concerns. He had surgery in 1988 to repair 2 brain aneurysms. No one would question the motive for the change – at least in the Dems minds.

I would question the timing based on the recent public gaffes he’s made. The first being that Hillary would have been a better choice for Obama. Another suggested that FDR was President in 1929 when the stock market crashed when Roosevelt didn’t take office until 1933. He also suggest that FDR went on television to explain his plan to the country. First off Herbert Hoover was President in 1929 and television didn’t become commercially available until the 1940s and were not common place until the 1950s. So FDR couldn’t have gone on television in October of 1929 2 years before he was elected President and given an address to the people on a device that wasn’t yet available.

Mr. Biden’s grip on reality and history as the rest of the world has experienced it aside, ditching him as a running mate this late in the race would be suicide in Presidential politics. If it were to happen it would truly show that the Democrat Party doesn’t learn from its own history.

In 1972 George McGovern selected Sen. Thomas Eagleton to be his running mate at the last minute. Some say within an hour of the deadline. Not knowing that Eagleton had been hospitalized 3 times for Depression and was taking the anti-psychotic drug Thorazine. Another fact that didn’t come to the attention of anyone until later was that Eagleton had been treated with electroshock treatments in the 1960s. Eagleton was dropped from the ticket just 18 days after being named to it.

In the event you are wondering, McGovern lost the Presidential election by a huge margin. He only carried Kennedy stronghold Massachusetts (due to his replacing Eagleton with Kennedy in-law Sargent Shriver) and the District of Columbia giving him only 17 electoral votes. Richard Nixon garnered 520 electoral votes and even carried McGovern’s home state of South Dakota which had gone to the Democrat Nominee in each of the 3 previous Presidential races.

As for the Hillary angle…

Hillary does not want to be Obama’s sidekick. Slick Billy Bob Bubba said as much in the past couple of days. She wants to be the first woman elected President of the United States. The key word there is elected.

If she were to take the VP slot and they won, she could not challenge Obama for her Party’s Nomination in 2012. It would be a smart move for Obama, but a dumb one for Clinton. Unless of course Obama were to not complete his term. Anything involving the Clintons wouldn’t surprise me. So in another sense it would not be such a smart idea for Obama. After-all people who get in the way of the Clintons end up dead or ruined. Just ask Vince Foster – wait – you can’t. Because he’s dead along with nearly a hundred of other Clinton inconveniences.

Bottom line of the Hillary angle is that she’d be a fool to run with the O Dawg. She’s not the type that would play second fiddle to an upstart like Barry. It would mark the end of her political career to join his ticket win or lose. Just look at what happened to John Edwards.

Truth is that Biden will stick in my opinion. But in case he doesn’t, someone else will fill the spot not Hillary. She’s too smart and knows what it is going to take for her to get another bite at the apple. And being Barry’s #2 isn’t it.

Prediction – Biden costs Barry O the Presidency. Hillary wins the Nomination in 2012. Barry gets sent back to Illinois licking wounds caused by his associations with Wright, Ayers, and Rezko.

The Quest for 270

Since the founding of our country there has been a unique difference between how we elect our national leader compared to that of the processes of the rest of the nations of the world. In Britain for example the people elect members of Parliament and based upon which party gains control of that legislative body a Prime Minister from the dominant party is chosen. Here in the United States we elect a President to a 4 year term and the process we use is electoral not direct election.

There are those who falsely believe that the United States is a democracy. The United States is actually a Representative Constitutional Federal Republic. Representative in that we directly elect Representatives to the US House of Representatives to a two year term. Originally, Senators were appointed by the legislatures of the various states to a six year term. This process made Senators accountable to the states that they represented thereby protecting the federalist form of government that was established by the framers. But that would change.

On April 8, 1913 the 17th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified by 36 states. This had the effect of making the states impotent and the beginning of the end of federalism in this nation. As former Democrat Senator Zell Miller said, “Direct elections of Senators … allowed Washington’s special interests to call the shots, whether it is filling judicial vacancies, passing laws, or issuing regulations.” Which is exactly what liberals want. Liberals love centralized power and mob rule and that my friends is what democracies bring.

The United States was never meant to be a democracy. The word brings to mind the pipe dreams of Utopian Progressives that desire centralized power granted by the population centered cosmopolitan city dwellers who they see as more sophisticated and better equipped to choose our leaders than those of us in the sparsely populated rural areas known as fly-over country. Those who Barack Hussein Obama recently commented as clinging to our guns and religion. The level of condescension from America’s “progressives” is staggering.

The Progressive movement in this nation was behind the passing of the 17th Amendment. Liberal Democrats consider themselves… “progressives”. We have seen since its passing the dwindling of the influence of the states. The states have become subservient to the federal government when the framers desired the political power of the nation to be centered in the states.

Those calling for an end to the electoral system of electing a President are these same imbeciles. Utopia dreaming “progressives” (or as they are referred to here – libtards*) want to remove the last vestiges of decentralized power (federalism) and make those of us in fly-over country subservient to the more sophisticated intellectuals of New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

What the uneducated, or more accurately improperly educated, electorate of this nation have been conditioned to believe is that direct election of the President of the United States would better represent the will of the people. When in fact it would represent the will of a Party. The Democrat Party.

All one has to do is to analyze the electoral map of the country from election years 2000 and 2004 to notice that the population centers of the nation all overwhelmingly went for the Democrat candidate for President in both elections. This is nothing new. The Democrat Party control most metropolitan areas of the nation. Even in critical swing states that have medium sized cities like Ohio, those cities tend to fall to the Democrat Party consistently. How else does one explain why Dennis Kucinich is allowed to serve in the US House of Representatives.

The electoral process of this nation is designed so that those of us in fly-over country have a say in our national debate. Without the electoral process center-right rural America would become politically impotent like the states have since the passing of the 17th Amendment.

As it stands, a candidate for President needs to win enough states to secure 270 electoral votes (51% of those cast). Each state gets a number of electoral votes equivalent to the number of Representatives and Senators from that state. The total number of electoral votes cast is 538 (435 House Members plus 100 Senators plus 3 for Washington DC). After the election, the Secretaries of State of the various states certify the election based upon who won the popular vote within that state and award the state’s electoral votes to the winning candidate. These certified results are then sealed and sent to the United States Senate where the electoral votes are counted. The candidate securing 270 electoral votes then becomes the President Elect.

This process does allow for a candidate to win the over-all popular vote nationally, BUT, lose the Presidency. This is due to the high population numbers of cities.

For example…

Alaska has 3 electoral votes. Delaware also has 3 electoral votes. Alaska has a population density of 1.2 people per square mile. Delaware has a population density of 442.6 people per square mile. Alaska had 683,478 people as of the 2000 census. Delaware had 864,764. Electoral voting empowers red state Alaska and balances it with the more densely populated smaller blue state of Delaware. We can see that if left to popular vote head to head, Delaware would dwarf Alaska in choosing a President (theoretically). But using the electoral process, Alaska, which is securely Republican, would wash with Delaware, which is securely Democrat. Thereby securing a true balance of power.

In short, the electoral process is the last vestige of federalism left in national politics. Those crying about Gore’s loss in 2000 need to shut up and change their sheets. First off that was 8 years ago already. And secondly, this process was designed so that one political party could not control the country indefinitely.

Gary Varvel Gets It Right!

Varvel hits this right on the head. Sarah Palin’s candidacy has resurrected not only the GOP, but the Conservative movement.

John McCain’s securing the nomination of our Party seemingly signaled the blue-blood moderate take over of the Party. McCain’s choice in Palin is signaling that perhaps McCain doesn’t see that as an acceptable direction for the Party itself while he attempts to court those blue-bloods and independents in order to defeat Barack Hussein Obama on November 4th.

Discarding of Conservatives and Conservative values would send the GOP back to the 1960s. Palin has prevented that from happening.

Putting Tuesday Into Context – GOP Are You Listening?

January 21, 2010

Scott Brown’s victory is not only historic in that a Republican was elected to an office from a State that hasn’t been won by a Republican since 1973. It is even more historic on HOW he did it. The Republican Party as a whole needs to take a careful look at HOW Brown won. Duplicating [...]

Death Care Bill On Life Support?

January 13, 2010

Both Congressional bodies passed bills independent of each other that include two different and massively expensive approaches on how to implement the President’s Death Care plan. With only gaining 1 Republican vote in the House and no Republican support in the Senate, the Death Care bill is a completely Democrat show. The hold-up with the [...]

How Safe Are We? Really?

January 10, 2010

Since the 2006 midterm elections, the leftist political hacks of the Democrat Party made it their goal to do whatever necessary to grab control of the nation from Republicans. Harry ‘the human sleeping pill” Reid is using political threats in an attempt to peel off RINO support for the massive socialist agenda of the Democrats – namely the Obama Budget, Universal Health Care, and Cap-And-Trade legislation. Is Biden Out? The Thomas Eagleton Affair Part II

September 25, 2008

Internet rumors abound with stories of Big Mouth Joe’s impending departure from the Obama campaign soon after the Vice Presidential debate with Gov. Sarah Palin. Part of this I think is wishful thinking on the part of Hillary backers who are clinging to the hope that she’ll be named as Big Mouth Joe’s replacement. The [...]

The Quest for 270
